Deal with it, or make a ghost kick drum track for sidechain only!
(Or you can draw volume automation or use auto pan as sidechain)

dang. It would be sweet if there were another fold option for sounds used in a drum rack and then you could choose sidechain options from a smaller list of only the sounds your using in the drum rack. If that makes sense.

yeah it's also annoying when you open up the automation envelopes in arrangement view and it has hundreds of options, but there's no way around that afaik. as far as sidechain goes, maybe it would be easier to use something like LFO Tool for you?

Yeah i actually just got lfo tool on a discount a few weeks ago on sale, but I haven't got around to using it yet. But as for the automation thing, you can always use macros which pop up under a smaller list. But I'm sure you already knew that.

fucking annoying, everytime i save a project then re-open it, 90 percent of the notes in a midi clip dont play - they are still marked in the arrangement/ clip notation, and when they should be playing, they still light up the small yellow volume indicator to the left of the device settings, but only a few notes in the clip light up the green volume indictor and i can actually hear the notes...anyone know?

hmm sounds like a velocity problem maybe? if it only does it when you re-open though that's kinda weird.

you may have accidentally de-activated those midi notes by selecting them in the piano roll and clicking 0

I just upgraded to live 9 and was curious if there's a way to return the automation dots to how they work in live 8? I hate the single-click dragging, I'm way too used to double clicking to place and then dragging it where I need it.

bummer, guess I'll just have to keep getting annoyed by it until I slowly fuck up less and less

You will never stop fucking up with live's automation lol. At least I haven't. It's really annoying. But Live 8 was bad too imo with the automation. Just gotta deal with it. Not that big of a deal though where it would make me want a different daw.

Same here, I'm pretty used to 8's automation but it is kind of whacky. Especially in session view.

hmm nah dont think so. weird that it happens if i save then re-open. only way to fix it is to move the clip into a different track in session mode, re-drop the instrument onto it, then starts playing again. fucking annoying
