also i believe many of the people getting so defensive in this thread are probably huge richie august fans, so we shouldn't really care what they have to say anyways.

to tell the truth I've never heard a richie august tune and this thread still disturbs me, mostly because you would never catch vibes like this on the forum a few years back... and I would hesistate to blame that on the tunes. People's attitudes seem to be changing more wholesale.

hellfire put in best by saying the real music people have the coolest heads in regards to change and the procession of time.. everyone else is spinning their wheels being divisive.

where are these Bro's? Whats gonna be the new dsf boogeyman next week? waste thread.

i agree with the majority of these statements and yes "brostep" is lame

however, the one thing i never agree with is pretentiousness

the labeling of different sounds always ends up leading to people thinking their shit is hot, that they know what good taste is, etc.

the perfect dj does not exist. there will always be someone in the room who disagrees with your selections, thinks you suck, etc.

you can't please everyone all the time.

i look at it this way, the dumbing down of sounds make it easier for the intelligent listener to discern between what they do and don't like, and makes it easier to avoid what they don't like

oh, so now we are gonna call out richie august huh? dude is putting out some of the most original shit there is, with solid production taboot.

richie is FIRE and one of the best "hard" producers out there.

kevin, i played a few richie tracks in that basement that night on elmwood. and that night i was playing the abosolute hardest shit i could for the most part because A> it was a jump up dnb night, B> i saw a few faces in the crowd who LOVE that shit C> thats what i wanted to hear, thats what i thought the vibe needed. so i dont harbor any regrets for playing richie and borgore tunes in that b2b2b2b set as i thought they fucking smashed it.

and if this thread is about playing diverse shit then YES I AGREE.

BTW, didnt Starkey say that he doesnt much like the hard ass tunes but he like Richie's tunes?

There is a real relevant opinion for us. :q:

Anyway, Richie August is pretty sick. I think calling him out for some bullshit is pretty unwarranted. Direct your anger elsewhere. Some of his tunes I think are pretty forward and some I could do without. I don't understand the hate though. Who gives a shit. He's not blatantly taking the piss like Rusko and Caspa, now is he?

I think this is just another way for people to perpetuate some sort of imaginary Stateside vs UK vs wherever beef...

Motherfuckers just want to dance. We have different tastes. If you've never seen a Trillbass or Richie August or Borgore dance, then shut the fuck up. I don't speak for any of them, but I know that your average Trill show would amount to seeing your average Starkey set. It's a bit grimey, a bit housey, a bit dubby, a bit metal... fuck it sounds like your average Mala set if you ask me. So the fucking debate over "brostep" is over in my opinion.

But Trill, Richie and Borgore should all take note.... the streets obviously hear you.

I heard absolutely no outrage when Rubber Chicken came out. We should all be ashamed for our silence on that one.

well I suppose I have then

I was having the entire night on Elmwood. the b2b2b2b was epic, the harder shit sounded so nice and old classics were slipping in and out of the set which made that hard stuff feel so much better!

see u 2night stunt, u know its gonna be fun! any sound is a good sound when u come to our town! brap!

Yeaaaahh..... Rubber chicken is pretty far away from metal drums and distorted basslines.

It still has space going on - in fact it's a sick tune.

comparing it to borgore is absolutely ridiculous

From memory, dubstep is an experimental type of music. Shouldn't that entail the artists to experiment with what ever they want?
Whether it's hard, deep, party... It's all dubstep. Stop being haters.

its that simple
but it's regressing and becoming less expermimental...it's going down as seckle said the doomed paths that d&b already went down

the tracks being criticized have become the norm...so the statement doesnt work
I don't see why all the progressive people are getting hung up on this, they'll just progress and leave these boring people behind to have their 'sound'. It's a shame the name's been soiled, but the minds haven't. & Not understanding 'meditating on the bass weight' means that you didn't really get what they were originally going for anyway.

i'm really sorry, but i belive the "broness" of the ones stuff or on the other hand - the novelty and unique of someones elses sound depends on how he looks
we could although start posting photos to uncover some of them bros. at least that could be funny. no? aight, i'm outta here..

Im still unclear on the meaning of "brostep". I assume its meant in a derogatory way against frat dude/ jocks who get hyped when they hear a banger? or is it straight up racist ( "goddamn brothers making all these ghetto bangers") or is it just a song with a rap or whatever sample, you know, lil wayne and rick ross ect, and the other gangsta lines over a half ass wobble?

I like a good wobbly banger myself, but also like the more traditional dub stuff. Honestly, I think the cheesiest dubstep songs are the ones that show their house and standard d+b influences.
