however, the one thing i never agree with is pretentiousness

the labeling of different sounds always ends up leading to people thinking their shit is hot, that they know what good taste is, etc.

the perfect dj does not exist. there will always be someone in the room who disagrees with your selections, thinks you suck, etc.

you can't please everyone all the time.


i look at it this way, the dumbing down of sounds make it easier for the intelligent listener to discern between what they do and don't like, and makes it easier to avoid what they don't like

kevin, i played a few richie tracks in that basement that night on elmwood. and that night i was playing the abosolute hardest shit i could for the most part because A> it was a jump up dnb night, B> i saw a few faces in the crowd who LOVE that shit C> thats what i wanted to hear, thats what i thought the vibe needed. so i dont harbor any regrets for playing richie and borgore tunes in that b2b2b2b set as i thought they fucking smashed it.

and if this thread is about playing diverse shit then YES I AGREE.

Anyway, Richie August is pretty sick. I think calling him out for some bullshit is pretty unwarranted. Direct your anger elsewhere.
