willryan042 wrote:@nonXero: good shit! i like the glitchy-industrial sounding drums. sounds like this could be used as a score for a movie. i'm a sucker for glitch stuff, and all those effects you have around the ~1:45-2:30 mark are awesome. love those subtle growls you got in there too
Thanks! The growl is actually me belching and re-sampled at a much lower key and longer time

Like the background synth/melody behind the bass synth after the drop... sounds good bro! The samples are pretty cool.

@The Jaft: Thank you very much for the feedback ^^ I originally intended to create some kind of glitch-step, and incorporate some industrial sounds with it. Unfortunately, dubstep is a new thing for me (I've never produced it before), and I always struggle with percussions. I come from the dutch hardcore/hardstyle scene, hehe. As for the bassline, there is no cello... I didn't intend to. I examined some dubstep presets I found but couldn't quite find what I was looking for -- I really wanted something that sounded like Optimus Prime having indigestion, so after some messing around and experimenting for a bit in Massive, I came up with what you hear. It went through a few phases of evolution. My problem right now is that I can create all the elements I want individually, I just have a problem working them in altogether hehe.

As for your track, I think something that would make it pop out, is a bit more reverb on the percussion, and possibly a more powerful kick. Right now it fades so much in to the background of everything else -- perhaps another kick, or maybe just increase the volume on this mix? :) I think this track could also be a bit catchier with a more powerful snare/clap here and there (again, with a lot of reverb). Maybe accent it here or there with a kind of reverse clap kind of thing. The idea is there, so good luck. ^^

Thanks again for the feedback!! :)

@ The Jaft
Loving the feel on this. The drums need a bit more power though. Maybe add some compression to it, just a bit.
Other than that, keep it coming.

@ Sinisterbeats
The ambient vibes and the intense hats makes me feel like if I'm on acid walking through a meadow. Haha, big ups.

@ nikkita
Epic reverb on the piano, always gives me chills when I hear tunes open up like this.
The wobbles just need some work, sounds like if its flooding the drums. Cheers.

I've been working on these tracks for about a while.
Thought I'd remix DJ Troubl's "Who's The Fool",
feels a bit empty though; Check it.

Soundcloud

And here's another tune that I started last month. I was listening to a couple of Trance tunes so it inspired me into creating a beautiful uplifting feel tune.
But the track kinda went into the opposite direction haha, love how accidental productions occur.

Soundcloud

So then I thought about remixing my tune into a Dubstep track, started this yesterday.

Soundcloud

Would appreciate feedback, big ups to everyone.
Safe.

loud flavor - the track isnt my cup of tea but its put together well. maybe turn a louder sub bass and turn the volume on the intro down a bit so it hits harder at the drop/chorus section. sometimes the simplest things like volume can transform a track into gold :D:

nicorisone - the improvements are superb! the dynamic change of the constant 16th notes really helped bring the rest of the percussion out. finish mastering this thing up already!! :)

steeple - dark, chill and filthy. sweet jesus! only suggestion is to switch it up a bit. maybe a high end melody somewhere in there, slide/glide, pitch bend at the end of each phrase so it isnt so repetitive.

i started this about an hour ago. something still isnt right somewhere in the last measure or two. -q-

filthy_-i love how those beginning sounds wind up from slow to fast. digging the intro, but the rest is still sounding too distorted. sounds like its gonna end up being dope tho!!

Loud Flavor- the vocals in the beginning are sort of inaudible. put everything else back just a little. but the drop sounds hella fuckin dope!! i love hearing some words. you def got ur own flava in this. that bbrororlllle sample from that guys voice is pretty tight too haha. good shit tho man this shit is heavyy.

The Jaft- the synth in the beginning seems off to me man. its also too loud i think. percussion is pretty dope tho. sounds like everything needs some EQ too. but everything seems to get much better during the end i like the combination of sounds overall!

this is my WIP! some feedback is highly appreciated! :mrt:

Sprayyypaint, Love the quirky sounding bass! i think all the little panned hits and fx add a great deal to the atmosphere of the track.

Loud-Flavour, The first track is great, i agree that the vocals are a bit inaudible in the beginning. i would say add more subbass. Second Track isnt really my type but its production is really nice. i like all the sounds you used in it. Third track, I thought was really cool how you remixed your own track. like the second track, i also like the sounds you used in this one.

Still lookin for some feedback on the track in my sig :)

i do not consider myself to be an authoritative source for feedback of this sort, but in observance of the rules of the forum:
sprayyypaint wrote: Soundcloud
the fast break @ 1.16 seems oop, but that could be what you were going for. otherwise, a rather funky track!
Loud Flavor wrote: Soundcloud
.05 to .28 needs normalization, maybe? 2.40 to 2.59 gets me rockin', wish it came earlier and stayed longer.
The Jaft wrote: Soundcloud
seems to lack a low-end. is there post-eq on your system, maybe?

my first real attempt at making dubstep, after listening and listening and listening for a few years now. this is the first concept draft with place holder drums and no fx. i haven't gotten to melody yet, and another (first) half is forthcoming.

the bass lead represents my first attempt at synth shaping using a virus ti, and i would like to know if the awkward timing is too off-putting. also, as i am working in a studio with two powered dynaudio monitors, i don't would like to know if the tonality of the synth translates to the average system like it does as i hear it. is there a formula for this? maybe a "lcd" band in which it's generally kosher to play with bass tones in this way?

anyway, this just sounds boring to me after listening to all of your contributions, but i figure i have to start submitting some time.

Soundcloud

you guys are all awesome, thanks for sharing your work and for your feedback.

yoyo whats up gang. I haven't made a dubstep tune in about 4-5 months now, I've been vibing the drum and bass but I've started something now :vader: would love for some crit and feedback on it, although I will say, soundcloud has slightly distorted it so dont mention that

Soundcloud

Kes-Es: BRUV! THATS SO DIRTY I JUST DID A SHIT. hmm fail filth comment.. tune made me laugh though at how over the top it is

NICORISONE: nice track man, proper nice and chill, i think you need a variation if you continue the track, maybe a more subtle wobble with a bit more emphasis on pads or something.. like where its going though

Nacklewicket: i like the ideas, not keen on the snare though sounds very dead and flat I think you should use a rounder sound with a lot of reverb. i like the sort of slap bassy sound, works well i think

will leave some more feedback later when i have time, safe guys

@weedcali - gorgeous vocals, the bass is really nice and warm. Is that a very convincing patch or an actual bass guitar recording? The mid range wobble was a little surprising, wouldnt of thought it would work in a tune like this but youve managed to pull it off excellently. Great tune.

@iamallthings - The reese could do with some processing and EQing to give it more tone and fit into the mix more. Sounds a little muddy at the moment. Definatly need to change it up more aswell, rather than having it as one long drone throughout the track. Need to work more on the progression of the drums, fill it out more with some hats/shakers/perc and get some groove going.

My tune seems to have become quickly overlooked so posting again
Sinisterbeats wrote:
Had this sitting on my desktop for a while now, not really sure where to go with it but I like it so dont wanna just bin it. Might just call it a short tune and do a bit more work on the mix. Any feedback welcome.

@nonxero i really enjoy your tune man.. Great drum play and atmosphere.. love the added elements around 1:30.. fits so well with the rest of the mix.. I could deff drive around town to this song.

@sprayyypaint : This is myyyy shit right here.. i love it man.. a smack to the face. love the grove that it settles into at 1:50.. My constructive critism is maybe tightening things up .. i only can hear this on my head phones so its easier to be nitpicky about FQs but i really like the songs direction.

@iamallthings: Nice track.. very impressive .. everything seems to fit tight it seems in the mix.. for me the melody / fx draw me into the song so i cant really offer that much on the song itself.. Im not a fan of the synth around 0:30.. Maybe it will fit more and get brought in better with the other elements in the song..

I updated my WIP.. The mixdown is still muddy cause im not entirely set on all the elements i want to use yet.. Thanks :h:

Sinister: Check your soundcloud mate, really like that track, don't bin it haha, I'd like to give more in depth feedback but there were no real negatives, Respect.

Bledbox: Check your soundcloud

Loud flavor:I'm getting to your soundcloud now so look out.

This is the "Joke tune" from earlier, I decided to keep it and go drumstep, feedback is cool, enjoy.

i hate to be that guy, but i'm reposting the track from a couple days ago because i kinda got skipped over on feedback. i keep doing minor tweaks here and there, but i'm kind of stuck. not sure if it's complete or not, so i could really use an extra pair of ears.

Soundcloud

@iamallthings: not terrible for a first track. there isn't much of a drop (don't know if that was intentional or not), the bass from the intro just kinda blends right into it. needs some mixing and whatnot, but it's definitely a good start. practice makes perfect, keep at it and you'll start picking up useful tips along the way.

@bledbox: like the variety in this! lots of switch-ups which is always good. pretty chill but juxtaposed with that heavy bass, i dig! LET'S HEAR MORE.

@sinisterbeats: nice fucking work on those drums dude they sound awesome. doesn't deserve to be trashed whatsoever. you already know this, but only thing i could say is work on getting it a little bit longer. props!

@raincoatdisaster: soundin good man, i like the jungle feel its got. that sub is fuckin thumpin too, sounds sick. i'd definitely like to hear a full track of this.

@kes-es: hahaha shit, i know you say this is a joke tune and it does sound fuckin ridiculous but I'm digging it. that kick and snare are sounding pretty powerful too. i really like the contrast between that soft intro riff and the drop, i say keep at it.

@willryan042 - @ 0:14 - Love the dirty little sound here should use it a little more!, the tune itself has a good structure and good vox, but imo the actual drop etc sound a little ' comedy ' i think its the mid bass patch thats doing it, maybe dirty it up a little more? drums are spot on, and the transition between mid bass sounds seem good! - overall imo - needs to be darker sounding, more dirt! :)

@raincoatdisaster - bass seems to overpower drums a little on my headphones (sennheiser HD 25), like the delay effect in the intro, fit nice,, i like it :)

Bledbox - Bass sounds great, drums are crisp, - Good Production

- Cooked this up a few nights ago, havent been back to it since, opinions would be good, ideas on where to take it? arrangement ok? although its full length id still class as WIP as i don't feel its finished! - Cheers (and also, not even sure if its dubstep!) but i wanted it to be lol!
