even the threads trying to improve the forum get dragged down by morans now then...

:corntard:

symptomatic of the whole place really.

Quite honestly i couldnt care less anymore, cant be arsed with 99% of it these days but will still try to help people who actually seem to want to try/learn. So many people just want spoon feeding. And you cant help people like that.

I think everyone can agree the constant repeated threads and simple questions answerable by reading stickies get annoying, but is pushing all those questions into a subforum that you can completely avoid really going to solve anything? I'm all for more Dunegeon sound/money shot/DAW Q&A type threads, but if you think they're going to magically appear if we separate the forum into 2 parts, I'd venture to say you're mistaken. I think Kaori said something to this extent earlier, but what's keeping these types threads of being posted right now?

tl;dr

But I got the gist and just wanted to say this. I think the idea of having a separate forum for people who don't want to talk about Skrillex sounds anymore is a great idea but there's no need to have it invite only or post count level only or some bullshit like that. Just have it as an extra click once you're inside the production forum. We know that no n00bs ever click on the stickies up the top so just hide the link to the sub-forum in there and the people you don't want to get in won't ever find it. I promise.

You can't help them with their stated problem, but you can rough them up a little, try to shake them out of it.

Agreed. If its on post count then people will just go to the SNH and go crazy. Also, you might have people very knowledgable who have just joined who cant gain access to the new section.

Im as annoyed as everyone else on this forum with the class A noobery at the moment, but instead of us going 'ah bunch of fucking shitmucnhers, i cant be arsed anymore', we need to pull together.

Also, jsisreal, you are a fucking moron. I'm not a judgmental person, but I think everyone agreed, you're a cock. :4:

There is absolutely nothing wrong with this sub-forum. The problem is the regulars and their feelings of superiority towards others. Honestly, who gives a crap is the same question is asked over and over. It's easier to not reply and move on than to take negative actions and ridicule the poster. That is my big fat 2 cents.

Yes - Community:

- Everyone contributing more tutorials and articles in general.

- Everyone submitting links to the mods and I in order to expand both the DJ and Production bibles. (Mods, you can edit and add to those posts too innit?!) ;)

- Stickied weekly 'IN FOCUS: How to make this sound' thread. (One sound per week voted for in a separate thread which is only open for a few hours on a Friday.)

- Renamed 'Mixing and Mastering' thread. (Wtf does 'Moneyshot' mean anywayz? Just call it 'Mixing and Mastering Info' so we can all understand!) :6:

- Stricter modding (locking repeat threads and actually banning consistent trolls Image)

- Moar mods (appointed by vote like last time)

Yes - Technical:

- New users introduction thread/system giving no ability to post new threads until five posts made. (Works well on other forums.) :)

- Compulsory tags when posting new topics so that threads are easily found when searched for. (Works very well on Stackoverflow.)

- Thread voting system (again like Stackoverflow)

No:

- Split forums. (If you want 100% on topic production related discourse, go to Studio-Central or KVRaudio. Both forums offer stricter modding and are frequented by very knowledgable professional technicians.)

- Whining about crap threads. (Don't like Trolls? Don't feed 'em! Use your autonomy and do something else.)

- Lightweight modding. (Bring on the 'locks & bans' when a consistent troll appears.)

26 and i still have no idea about the world or myself. Reality blows, and it just gets harder with every responsibility you will inevitably take on.

Also, Jr should be banned for feeling the need to contribute nonsense every other second.

So true. Wait till your 30's. It's kind of weird knowing more yet understanding less. Many lessons in that.

"Without opening your door,
you can open your heart to the world.
Without looking out your window,
you can see the essence of the Tao.

The more you know,
the less you understand.

The Master arrives without leaving,
sees the light without looking,
achieves without doing a thing."
