More power to you then.
I personally can't afford buying everything I like/want, even though I'm not poor. I check out around 15-20 releases per day (singles, EPs, albums whatever). Some I like, some I don't. I don't see a point in buying something you don't like (and previews on websites aren't good enough). Where possible I'd honestly rather just buy merch, such as t-shirts or hoodies.
and i totally get that, but I don't feel like you should steal music even if you can't afford it... especially in an underground genre such as this, producers need the support of their fans, much more so than any mainstream artist... also, as an added benefit of listening to underground genres, some produces release much of their music for free, legally

I agree, in this scene yeah, you can buy digital, especially since full albums are pretty rare. Two mp3s or wavs aren't that expensive.
Hardcore is underground too though, but I'd rather just but t-shirts and go to shows if possible. As for more popular or mainstream music, I'll never buy it. As much as I love Joy Division, for instance, I'm not going to pay for an album/compilation.

-q- Well...all of this stuff is electronic music. Dunno why people say all the brostep stuff sounds robotic either tbh; most of Autechre's stuff sounds more robotic to me. But they like to use it to describe something as soulless I guess.
Yeah.. i mean Autechre is intentionally like this isn't it. I don't like Autechre but i can see the appeal and point of it. But soulless robotic 'random' dance music like this midrange stuff doesn't make sense to me.. and i listen to genres like hardcore/hardstyle/schranz even.

Maybe it's some pre-bias involved but i feel more from those than midrange tracks, even schranz as soulles as you can get gives some atmosphere and feeling by virtue of being like an ever-grinding machine. Maybe cause it always feels so strictly to a formula with the same elements.. least stuff like Reso or tracks on Hench had some personality i guess to them. I listen to some midrange links people give out in places as 'amazing' and it'll be what sounds like just some presets put together with samples. It's not trying to be a machine-like sound though.. i mean why is the wobbles, cut-up vocals and other elements included other than to fit the formula? I listen to say Gemmy's new EP and feel like he changes things up while still trying to create a bass heavy wobbly kinda sound.

Dunno maybe i'm just biased towards some UK artists but it seems way more respectable music even when it's blatantly dancefloor wobble stuff. All of the North American midrange i've heard actively makes me annoyed at how little appears to have been attempted to make it unique.

What I mean is that stuff like big synths and wobbles sound straight out of a computer, whilst the darker more ambient stuff doesn't. Of course, it's all electronic at the end of the day but some stuff sounds more obvious.
This sounds pretty obviously electronic (and out of a computer) to me:

and later on even more so:

I know where you're coming from I just don't think the expression 'more electronic' is particularly apt as to why that stuff isn't any good.

Would take longer than most people, I think his brain has developed an immunity to his music....I think its very possible that he's deaf, and thought Ableton was a fun little video game and started messing with it.

I mean, his DJing sounds like he's deaf

-[2]DAY_- wrote:i love getting the booklets and art when i buy CDs.. i definitely didn't skip it, thats still how i buy music. even tho it is stupid considering they're just flimsy, outdated soft-drive discs that hold something like 350MB data... and the drives for them are on their way to being phased out of computers for good... I buy them bc i'm limited to digital playback, and i do want the extra, plus just the aspect of owning the physical copy. But i definitely DON'T want a PDF. We can come up with something better. If they can eliminate shipping costs, distros need to take advantage of it, but tbh I like getting things shipped, i like the anticipation of it arriving in the mail. They should put lossless .WAVs on a nice, decent looking thumb drive with a few gigs storage, and in there put a folder with the music, plus whatever else -- promo tunes, adverts, graphics, videos, freebies. And let it come in a box with artwork and booklets comparable to that of a CD. and finally, you get to keep the thumb drive, erase it and use it in your daily life. OR, ship it back for a discount on your next purchase. See, we don't have to decide between embracing the digital age, and having quality physical goods.
You're a revolutionary genius. :h: That idea would make getting flac's/wavs/mp3's exciting.

She said that and then something came on that sounded like it could be on the radio. That wasn't the only moment in the video that confused me. You could say I spent most of the time confused. Now to read the comments because I'm a masochist.

EDIT: Lol there's only 5 comments and the most recent one sounds like they are on this forum. I've got to ask how you found this epochalypso, or are you subscribed to her?

Shall I compare thee to a pastry? You see,the drop in a Dubstep song is like the jelly in a jelly filled doughnut. You know its there and that you'll get to it eventually, and you know that others like it, but you don't know if you'll like it. And you begin to think that the song might be better without the jelly, but you realize that if the doughnut didn't have a drop, it wouldn't be nearly as interesting, or as lively as it is right.....NOW.
