Before it gets poo-pooed as a subject matter completely there's a couple of facts that might interest people... Nothing to do with Dubstep, sorry!
Originally Ketamine was synthasized as an anaesthetic for use by pregnant women and small children. It was suitable for such purposes because it has a low physical impact on the body (i.e its not actually that bad for it). It was then widely used in places like the war in Vietnam, in circumstances like where a soldier had been blown in half, was creating alot of noise with all the screaming and needed to be shut up before half the Vietnamesse army was on them.. A quick shot of k and you ain't making no noise for a decent while apart from the odd moan and groan!
Nowadays it is apparently still kept in hospitals for certain eventualities, but not widely used apart from, as already mentioned, by the likes of vets for horses!
As far as human use goes, used from time to time, physiologically its not too bad for you. It wasn't designed to be used on a frequent basis though, has recently been proved to cause the legions in the back of your brain (small holes), and has been linked to other forms of neurological damage used in the long term. It also (like coke) can cause stomach ulcers..
Here ends todays science/public health lesson!
On the flip side I have had some pretty good times on it, especially at free parties where nobody gives a shit. It ain't good stuff to do if you in any way need to look like a semi normal citizen though, and these days when I 'm trying to respect my mind abit more its definately something I try yo steer clear of...

actually that was disproved again a couple of years ago come to think of it, there was a research paper published about the fact that it causes lesions of the brain on rats (olney's lesions?) and that fact was apparently somehow found to transfer directly to people, but soon after that another paper was published coming to the conclusion that the theory about brain lesions didn't actually work with regards to humans. the paper had a signature stating that the former paper's author had concurred...
i think it's probably pretty bad for you though, definitely not good for the old noggin imo, but just go easy innit.
and don't go stickin needles.

I've worked from 99 till present at Headcharge - an all night AcidTechnoTrance affair.
In all my years ketamine caused the worst state i've ever seen anyone in.
The two guys who had both pissed and shit themselves were so rigid that the security were having to handle them like two doors. There was no way they could walk or talk.
To be fair they both came round and were pretty coherent in a short space of time but it was enough to put me off.
Thats my 2cents. i'm sure the fellas mentioned had over indulged!

On the lighter, slightly more humorous side...
A friend of mine at a free party was trying to go for a piss on K, but somehow got one of his balls out instead of his nob.. He was stood there beside a van, ball in hand, pissing down the inside of his trousers. To round of the episode he even gave it a good shake afterwards, just to make sure there was no spillage! After that he quite happily wandered back into the party, completely unaware of the state his trousers were in.... Not a good look!

my mate got a little too into it. he used to freak out all the girls at the houseparties we went to, cos he'd sit there screaming, and slapping himself in the face.
now everytime i go out, i get people coming up to me asking me if ''screaming jim'' is out tonight.

I've never had a bad time on ketamine but I've had many a bad time being with people who are on ketamine. I just don't think it's a good thing to do in a social situation.
Ok, here's my theory on it - The analogy is dubstep:
You've got one load of people on here dissing it by recounting stories of people getting far too munted on it and causing themselves / others distress.
That's true.
Another load saying hang on a minute, if you take too much of anything you can fruck yrself up too (even weed!). It's not the drug that's bad it's irresponsible people taking it.
That's also true BUT.... (here's the dubstep bit)
You all know the conversation... some wasteman's heard a dubstep tune on the radio through some crappy stereo and thinks the who scene's sh1t...
YOU: "Thing is mate, in order to really appreciate dubstep, it's got to be heard out on a good quality rig that can handle the sub-"
WASTEMAN: "yeah mate, but that's exactly the same with d&b (breaks / reggae or whatever)"
YOU "yeah I know, but weirdly more so with dubstep"
Both views are true but I'd say most people on here would probably agree that it IS somehow more important to get the sound right with dubstep.
So back to K and people doing it, like all drugs you should be careful not to over do it but MORE SO than with anything else.

i remember when i first took it i went for a walk down the southbank with some mates, and it was hilarious, i thought i was in a bubble and whenever anyone said anything to me i thought i had to wait for the words to squeeze through the wall of a bubble so i could hear it, and then there were these giant guitar sculptures by the mayors office thing and this big colessium cinema thing

I have expereinced a K and dub morning, one sunday after we had this big show, we were so hungover it felt like the best idea just do some k and listen to dub... it was pretty fucking sweet but i definately wouldnt have taken it outside the comfort of my own house.
also listen to DJ Screw is pretty sweet while on K
