seriously??? do you guys actually believe the shit you are spouting? that you are some altruistic keepers of the forum for the good of the people, but those same people shouldn't have an opinion?
you keep arguing from the perspective that there's a right and wrong. we're at a size on this site where its impossible to make everyone happy. we're navigating thousands of opinions and fingers pointing at us everyday.
think about that for a second sapphic beats. think about the fact that when you get a certain size of traffic on any site that involves thousands of humans interacting, that there's no clear wrong or right....there's an increasing amount of grey area. we try and make sense out of that grey area, as best as we can. clearly, that best is not good enough for you.

i know trying to navigate a community this large has its challenges. and i don't envy your task at all. i don't really believe that anything is black and white, but neither do i believe that thus far, anyone has even attempted to really listen to the dissenting opinions, and actually say "we hear you, and possibly this wasn't the best tack to take and possibly it was the only one, but we made our choice and now we have to live with it".
i just want to see less circling of the wagons and more listening. does that make sense?

you don't get to a community of 8000 people plus logging onto one site every single day by not listening to them. we listen to everything.

its remarkable to me how many people imply that those who were pretty peeved and felt betrayed are suffering from some semblance of immaturity when one of the lessons I learned as I blossomed into an adult was that it takes a real adult to admit when s/he was wrong.
even more than this is the desire of people to tolerate bad behavior and point the finger at the offended for being offended. like blame the rape victim for wearing that skirt, nevermind the perp who raped her.
even more remarkable is how many people say, "If you're not happy, go to another forum," yet when other forums popped up and began to gain in favor, the "lesson" was revealed to be a failure and dsf was re-opened post-haste. seems almost as if this was another punitive or precautionary decision made to reign in the wanderers and make sure that the other forums would suffer.
but even more remarkable than that was the absolute arrogance and flippancy of the people who made the decision to do this in the first place. If you act rashly, not everyone is going to be happy. A mature individual would at least admit to fault. Not admitting to it, though glaringly obvious, just makes people feel as if you think they're stupid and taking them for granted.
You say this is our forum. But if it were our forum, why were so many of our forum not even considered before this decision? And out of sheer respect for the people who make this forum what it is (And please....if I don't buy the stuff about our government leaders being infallible once they've gained the vote, I certainly won't buy it about a lesser important issue), out of respect for the people who come here everyday and give you a reason to even begin self-aggrandizing, you should make an executive decision towards honesty and rebuilding the trust that was casually tossed aside.
And for all the people who felt it necessary to come in here and point out how much it is just a forum, if you really felt that way, you wouldn't be here saying one damned word. Dammit why can't people just be f*cking real for a minute? Obviously this place means more to you than just thing to pass the time. If it didn't, you wouldn't feel the need to lambast or congratulate. So stop deluding yourselves. You're no better. Just on the other side of the coin. But the other side of it doesn't mean you're not on the coin, so please remember that before the continuation of condescension.

Now, he didn't build the fever for hope and change, but he has included those ideas in the daily vernacular. For him to then come to office and bring neither Hope, nor Change says something about his character.
^^ um, yeah.
Just don't go blaming Canaduh.

No as I said in response to Shiva, I was referring to all of the idiocy directed at the forum mods and admins in the past few months. Twas not directed at you and I'm certainly not immune to moderation.
robotic wrote:stanton wrote:ARE YOU FUCKING MENTAL, what the fuck have any of you done for any scene that even comes close to being as important as what these people have done?
do i know you? or you me? and what was it again they say about assumptions.... ?
Again that wasn't directed at you, 'any of you' was used to make it a general address. Though now you mention it unless you're Benny Ill posting under a pseudonym... Also I apologise if you are mental, my remark was offensive and insensitive.

no one questions the work involved in moderating a 2000000-user forum. but nobody is holding a gun to anyone's head. if a mod doesn't want the job, then - if anything - the past few days have shown that there are plenty of ppl with enough initiative to do it. they may bitch about it later, but a community this strong in numbers should always be able to divide the work amongst responsible, eager-to-help members... for the benefit of everyone.
and of course, i can't demand a thing from anyone. i don't. i do however appreciate a bit of honesty and transparency. without it i don't know what to expect.... and it could well be that the work *I* have put into this place by posting dates, mixes, radio archives, technical commentary/advice and reviews, will all turn out to have been in vain! ... i'd hate to see that happen. .... again. .... and however indefinitely.
Two days, deux jours, twee dagen, zwei Tage, due giorni, dois dias...
I don't understand why people think this is some arrogant self aggrandising move. It was funny more than anything else.

Where I used to work there were employees who complained about absolutely everything because it was their right to. The company tried to listen to everything that was complained about, and changed policies, ways of working, restaurant menus, you name it, but *nothing* was ever ok. The company had 20,000+ employees, so you guessed it, they changed one thing, and there would be a slue of employees that would complain about it. Sometimes it would be the same employees that had asked for that very change.
The moral? Buy custom moulded ear plugs, drink chamomile tea, and give the occasional token nod of the bonce during conversation.
