Too close ?
What I've heard is that you want your head just inside the third point of an equilateral triangle formed between the monitors and your head.
So basically if the monitors are 92cm apart you want the distance from each monitor to the back of your head to be 92cm. Be very careful though, you can't move a cm. Sorry, don't know how to make a joke in metric. The larger the triangle, the more you can move around and still be in the stereo sweet spot.
I actually have the opposite problem, My krk's are too far apart, because I've got a couple of 22" video monitors between them... so I've got to sit a ways back, and then can't see my stupid high rez screens...
What ever works. Personally don't think I spend enough time on the stereo field because my wide monitors widen my sound for me, either that or I'm lazy...

Can't you put your monitors back further?

Here's my setup, I don't need much!
Full view:
My M-Audio Oxygen 25, currently not plugged in.
My Saffire Scarlett 6 interface and my crappy headphones (soon to be replaced by some Sony MDR-7506s)
My Epiphone Les Paul, perched precariously between two chairs. My other two electrics and my acoustic are downstairs.
Running Logic Express 9:
