Remember, you have the good fortune of living in England where there are plenty of nights where you're guaranteed to only hear the good shit
Remember, I live in Birmingham, where there's one good night every 2 months.
And anyway, if it was a choice between going to a night and hearing shit music all night or just staying it, chilling with some friends, listening to music I do like, maybe producing some tunes, I know what I'd do.
Shit music has to be found, same as good music, and you'll only do that by looking for it.
that is not true. Unless, as you say, you just stay in. You have no choice of music in a bar or at a regular dance. And I guaranty over here, bro gets played almost everywhere along with weakener drum & bass like DJ Fresh and Netsky, it's everywhere.
So even if you don't go looking for it, chances are it will be smacked in your face. But that's primetime radio music for ya.
But that is actually pretty irrelevant to this discussion, I understand that.

So basically, moan about brostep because people aren't putting on deep nights close to where you live? What good is that gonna do?

Plenty of deep nights here actually. My only remark is that being "forced" to listen to bro isn't limited to dubstep parties. And also as I said, not really that relevant of a point. I can moan about that, then again I also moan when anything made before 1986 with the possible exception of Roy Orbison, comes on, I will also moan

im in london so im never short of nights to go to. it purely just slightly annoys me at having to explain that i dont like flux pavilion/nero/skrillex/borgore whenever i say i like dubstep. the flipside which i massively enjoy is that i then get to show whoever it is all the shit i do like and they get introduced to some great music.
whenever it happens to come up, which even if you like the deep/old stuff, is a fucking lot, you just go through the same thing of explaining that you don't like it. i see more people getting exasperated that "deep heads" don't like their ukf stuff than the other way around. like you deserve you have your music liked by everyone or something
it IS a two way street, but i dont think anyone is intentionally being an ass really. because the more people happen at cross purposes over it, the more annoying it gets.
not saying anything new but i dont rly care. a borgore caspa flux pavilion benga skream skrillex line up honestly makes me feel a bit ill but i can live with it.
it just gets blown out of proportion because it's the internet.
no ones gonna get shanked for liking brostep.

Why act like I said just to stay home in your bedroom on your own?
I said get some friends round, maybe put on parties, get some people introduced to the sound. Maybe even put on a night if you can.
Beats coming to this thread and moaning about brostep?
And for those that moan that when they say they like dubstep, people ask if they mean Skrillex, I've gotta ask, how often does that really happen? Why not show them some tunes you do like? My girlfriend's brother thought dubstep was shit because it was all noise, I made him a CD with stuff like DMZ, Mount Kimbie, Burial, etc. trying to cover the whole scene, and now he knows.
Brostep is shit, but people can only listen to stuff they know. If nobody is gonna do that for you, and it bothers you so much, be the change you wanna see.

Exactly. I live in fucking North Dakota, and for the most part, the "dubstep" that gets played at shows is shit. I put on a few shows a year to keep my sanity...I advertise it as dubstep, but there's no bro that gets dropped all night; the stuff that gets played is always quality, and the people that come out end up getting down to it.
If shit sucks where you live, do something about it.

guess its just different in the countries you guys live in
its a shitload harder to put nights on here without already being established
and its a damnsight harder to put nights on if the owner of the club/bar/venue doesnt even know what your about
its ok though, for me personaly, the scene here is thriving at the moment, small but big enough to get decent gigs every so often
but it does annoy the fuck out of me when i do go out to town with friends who just like to go out, and every club you go to is playing either skrillex or david guetta

I really don't think it's fair to say that all brostep is shit (assuming that brostep just means heavier dubstep). Here's what I think: obviously Burial, Skream, Loefah, Coki, etc. are awesome and under appreciated, but saying that all of the harder producers out there are shit just because they don't stick to a certain chilled, grimy form is kind of hipstery and lame. I listen to both forms of the genre for different reasons. I get just as pissed as the next guy when someone says something about Skrillex being "the king of dubstep" or whatever. The fact is, it's stupid to get angry because a genre has evolved and become "less cool" because it's mainstream or whatever. I don't even think you can say Skrillex is shit to be honest. I enjoy listening to him for the same reasons that I enjoy listening to other pop music. Because it's... pop-y haha. I don't think one style is necessarily better than the other. The brostep/origional dubstep debate is like quarreling over whether forks are better than spoons. Yes, Burial and the likes are fucking awesome, but I think it can also be said that producers like Flux Pavillion, and Datsik are fucking awesome as well.
