Well it was just like "OK, in white society, I am priviliged due to being white. What now?"

On a day to day basis, how am I meant to act on that knowledge? If I'm in the queue at the supermarket, and there's an asian dude behind me, do I let him go ahead of me? Do I have to be overly nice for no reason to a black woman I see on the street, and go up to her and tell her that I hold no prejudice towards her because I am a white man?

Ultimately, I just go about my day not giving a fuck about what other people are or what they're doing, but that guys list suggested doing SOMETHING about it, but didn't give any idea what you actually could do about it. Maybe I should just move to a non-white matriarchal society to try and balance the see-saw of prejudice in the world.

Tbf a lot of people needs to be reminded to be conscious about such things gareth, but that doesn't put any weight on you.

In theory or in a moral sence the effort is just minding it, which is escapingly vague terms but still a huge difference.

It's funny coz church is so gay. Men handing boys biscuits, coloured windows, suggestive candles, a golden washing bowl, a man in a robe with a collar that makes his head look like a dick, books with lyrics in them, a huge instrument that works by blowing into huge pipes, a naked buff hairy guy tied to a thing from a madonna video + madonna jewelry on all the walls

"take into consideration". Again, everybody here is just being like the guy in the article. Nobody can say what you're meant to do with the information. Ok, I'm a white man, I know in this country, that gives me a lot of leverage, but what am I meant to do? Day to day life, just walk around, worrying about it all the time? Nah man. Fuck it, I appreciate the situation I was born into, but I don't get what I'm meant to do with it. I'm just not a dickhead to people for no reason.

It would be unfair to expect you to worry, but not consider imo. Same thing with women in a group of men. You consider the fact that they don't stand up and pee.
But worrying about it... Well... The metaphore ends there without a solution :D
I'm just not a dickhead to people for no reason.
Expected but :w:

nothing just ignore it

if you are constantly walking around reminding yourself how much better your life is cos you are white then you are the racist imo

i wish at some point we can just stop giving fucks about ppls colour

i recognize that by being white in an exceptionally (on european standards) lily-white society i have a certain upper hand on immigrants and people of colour. but it's because it's "normal" to be white. but it's depressing that race is an issue even in countries with hundreds of years of immigration and mixing of "races" (I dislike the word race in this context)

yh exactly, in my opinion the people keeping racism alive are the white knights who are tryign so hard to be politically correct and always 'checking' their privilege. If i was a person of a different race i would just want to be treated like a person not constantly sucked up to by some pussy white man, this opinion is shared by almost every non-white person i know

that's so true. people acknowledging racism in any way be they the instigators or the targets doesnt matter all they do is perpetuate the problem which is fucking dumb.
