Dutch youth league football linesman dies after attack

A Dutch man has died after being kicked and punched by a group of teenage football players for whom he acted as linesman in a Sunday league match.

Richard Nieuwenhuizen collapsed and was taken to hospital hours after he was beaten by three players from Amsterdam club Nieuw Sloten. He died on Monday.

He had been officiating for Buitenboys club, in the town of Almere, and one of his own sons had been playing.

Three teenagers, aged between 15 and 16, have reportedly been arrested.

Brilliant last night, was very worried with no Wanyama. Penalty was very soft but I'm not going to complain! Last few mins were horrible was just waiting on Benfica scoring!

Just shows it though Man City spent all that money and couldn't do it!

In fairness to Man City, they were part of a group that had 4 national champions of amazing to decent leagues.

To not even win at home against Ajax is unacceptable.

I wouldn't be surprised if Dortmund go all the way to the final

So happy Chelsea are out, and so happy Torres got 2 goals.........against a pub team.

He has got himself at least another 6 months of not scoring in the Prem.

He is looking SICK. Genuinely could rescue the season (well, get us fourth) if he is at his peak.
Was really happy with the performance had a lot more about us, created a lot of chances, just hope we can build on this now and finish 2012 on a winning streak
