I had an allergic reaction to a pollen joint before I went to bed last night. An hour with ridiculously fast heart rate, swollen throat and a kind of asthma-ish chest. Never had that before with weed... for a while I thought I was about to have a fucking heart attack or something until I noticed my throat was all swollen - did well over my RDA of hayfever spray and a couple of anti-histimines and it all started to fade.

Seriously though, fuck.... that. Feel a bit weird this morning. It's been a ridiculously heavy few weeks and I think I'm in fairly urgent need of a proper night's sleep, but weed's NEVER done that to me before. Little bit scary if I'm honest.

cos its pollen i spose, maybe some of the actual pollen flew through the joint into your lungs/throat which caused that??

Yeah, I reckon it was exactly that... I do get hayfever, but never normally notice too much effect from smoking, but I think I'd pretty much just coated my lungs and throat in pollen.

Of course, being stoned didn't help with the racing mind and I reckon that was keeping my heart rate stupidly high... I was self-diagnosing like a motherfucker and got a bit panicky. At one point I even got dressed again so my housemates wouldn't have to scrape my naked body off the floor if I keeled over.

Seriously though that sounds awful! I've always wondered about that though. Surely even being around (a substantial amount of) ganja could trigger someone's hay fever, no?

My mate bought some chronic when we were in amsterdam and when he sniffed the bag his hayfever flared up really badly! Watching him smoke a whole gram in a blunt was hilarious, by the end of it his nose was so runny and his eyes so puffy it looked like he was crying!
