my loss on two counts i guess:

1) i couldn't rise above

2)just wasted two and a half minutes of my life downloading and listening to your revolutionary new direction in dubstep.

except for 'trip hop'. I am actually nervous sometimes that half step will just morph into a trip hop revival. i have to keep teliing myself that this is not going to happen.

yeah sorry for commenting on a thread that has been beaten into the ground, i just haven't been on here in a while and i am a little rusty.

Let the producers make whatever they want, halfstep or anything else, if you don't like it, START PRODUCING!

I am very concerned about this.

i dont think there's much risk of 140 dubstep becoming trip hop, not when there are so many Flylo clones around working at 94bpm. Now the worst of that stuff sounds like trip hop!

Funny to see how relevant this topic is 3+ years later. The debate over halfstep/brostep etc. is raging. Definitely feeling like "Half-Step" is more in line with the original vibes of dubstep. Swamp81 > Skrillex imho

this thread started in 2006- and right back on the first page people were saying the same old responses that this has already been debated loads and no point pigeonholing, good music is good music etc.

perhaps people say dungeon vs filth rather than halfstep vs breakstep...but whatever, it has been discussed to death and is a really boring and repetative topic of conversation.

......the only interesting thing to take from it is that people keep repeating the exact same boring conversation year after year, so anyone that thinks they are being original starting a dmz>circus thread really isn't and should shut the fuck up becasue its been done and was a boring repetative conversation 5 years ago

Except dungeon and filth are both tiny slices of half step... So glad the skip & swing has returned, healthy doses of all sounds keeps it exciting and dynamic

It offers another dimension sonically to DJ sets, I think it is always great when you can pull off dropping a half step track after playing something really up tempo.

It's an integral part of both grime and dubstep and being a DJ who spins both in the same set, the halfstep dubby stuff really works well with grime.

completely agree! but an hour of one type of beat is pretty boring imho. remember when dubstep sets moved? when the beat would slow down to a crawl, only to explode and swing all over the place? it's happening again with a lot of great djs today!! :h:

quoting very old post here, but here we go anyway: it's not listener's job to produce. producers are free to make what they want, but listeners can still demand things whether it's going to happen or not.

I totally agree, good music is good music & I will never knock anyone for doing there thing.

However, despite what a boring conversation it is according to you... you still fell the need to respond, give your opinion & get emotional to tell others to "shut the fuck up" :i: The only thing I can say is that if you find it boring & repetitive, then don't contribute to the conversation, plain & simple...

Agreed 100% lot's a good DJ's & producers holding it down! Unfortunately, even though Dubstep seems to be blowing up in the states, the good DJ's & producers seem to be slept on by most of the people who are getting into the music currently

half step brings swagger to the vibes
A night of all one type of beat is worse than "pretty boring", it's a failure and it's unacceptable imo.
