init if your playing one set a week that's a 6 figure salary, i'd consider myself made if i was getting that lol
6 figures doesn't mean anywhere close to "made" in 2013, tbh. Comfortable, sure... but if I "made it" as an artist I'd want to be living a lot better than that. You can exist pretty gloriously in London on £100k, but equally you can barely afford a mortgage on a central 2 bed - 7 figures is really where you start living well AND stacking for the future.

how many people play a set a week though?
I imagine the people that are demanding a couple of grand a set are likely to play a set a week at least, aren't they?
Nah, the likes of Kode9/Loefah/Joy O are not playing every week.

I lost all respect for MJ Cole when I saw him at Ram Records in London and he played a brostep remix of Sincere.

He's been doing that for years actually

Ensuring that someone remixes Sincere into whatever style is currently freshest has been the cornerstone of MJ Cole's business plan for the last decade.

It wasn't Classic Cole, but I remember sticking around for most of it so it can't have been that bad. Then his last tune, the strings and vocal sample creep in and everyone cheered because it was recognisible as Sincere, then it dropped and it was like "oh...don't do it...be sincere...WUBWUBWUWUWUWUWUWUBBBBBBB" and half the crowd left.
