Isn't MR67 just a tune by Visionist? A sick one I might add:

Nah, it's cos he used to be in the background of the boiler room videos in a rugby-style shirt that had "67" on it, and people used to call him "Mr 67", hence the name of that tune.

I have listened to every tune in this thread and I think you're all really stretching it a bit if you think this is some new genre.

It's just a new take on grime, dubstep, etc. Not sure anybody thinks it's a new genre, it's just a relatively new take on the sound and we're talking about it. After all, that's what this forum is for ennit? If we just put a thread called "dubstep" or "grime" in, we probably wouldn't get anywhere.
Don't be so uptight.

Not being uptight , just trying to make sense of what you're all trying to re-label house/techno/grime/dubstep as...

Do you mean theres been similar stuff coming out for a while? Cause there was loads of 'dubstep' before Skream & Benga too. I've never seen it as a new genre more a new direction of Garage. This stuff is a lot closer to dark garage than dubstep is nowadays anyway.

In the same way Distance - Night Vision doesn't sound like Joy Orbison - Hyph Mngo, this dubstep/garage/grime/techno doesn't sound much like other stuff. Guess that's it really.

Would this be classed as 130bpm(Dark Garage) or Techno?

Dunno. This thread isn't really for classifying any tunes as anything, it's more about sharing the sort of sounds, producers, labels represented by the likes of the keysound show. That's it, nothing more. It's just a sound that people like and we're all sharing tunes by artists other people might be interested in.
I don't really see people pushing it as a new genre just labeling a sound pretty much like dungeon.

I just found this thread , read it and by the way people were talking I thought there was a whole new sound , then listened to all the tunes and only heard familiar music.
The continuum is turning into a progressive regression i.e ; UKG - 2step -Dark Garage - Dubstep - 130(Dark Garage) - 2step* -UKG*
*next logical progression/regression

If it was linear. UKG - Dark Garage < Grime/Dubstep.. why isn't it possible to go back to Dark Garage and create a 3rd branch? Well thats how I see '130'.
Plus 'progressive regression' might not be all bad, some of my favourite grime stuff atm is the stuff I consider a 'tribute' to classic grime and eski stuff. Kahn & Neek ect... even Zombys Eski shit. I see nothing wrong with going back to the roots and trying to go into a different direction. Some of the best '130' stuff has some jungle influences that I'm feeling.
