Welcome to enlightenment friend, don't let nowaysj give you irrational hope.
itt: People who don't really know what they're talking about pretending they do, using information from news sources and then complaining about the new sources other people have used. With the occasional spot of condescension.
perhaps i just created a perfect description of the whole forum.

Maddow is the lowest form of fascist propaganda. I seriously distrust anyone even entertaining her as a news source. I'm speaking in all honesty here. No forum hijinx.

All snowcapped by someone who doesn't give a shit about the subject being discussed implying that everybody should be as apathetic and willfully uninformed as them in order to maintain some sort of lowest common denominator Internet cool. You're right, it's SNH in a microcosm.
Thanks for your input yet again, m8son.

Luckily coolness is a subjective quality. Interpretations may vary, consult your local adjudicator.

I'm seeing a uk sort of sitcom with a character whose only function is to come into whatever room the scene is taking place and just say "I don't give a shit about anything you're talking about," and then leave. And he looks like this:
I think I'm on to gold here.

It's not that i don't give a shit, i just try to not give a shit.

It's strongly implied from your near constant criticism of anybody that appears to care about anything either way.

You could show up to high level talks, izan's, Putin, Fed Reserve, they're about to sign a deal on the Ukraine, "I don't really give a shit about what you're doing," Hoist the Lambrini and 180 it.

@nowaysj

i can practice with the student union elections that are happening at my uni atm
@gathowen I care that there could be a big war but
try to limit the amount of thought i put into everything before that. It's not like i am gonna think about the situation, come up with a solution, email putin and it will all be over. I have more relevant things happening in my life than worrying about a country miles away's trouble which currently has no effect on me apart from reading it in the news. You guys don't spend time properly thinking about all the poverty in Africa and looking at photos of their destitution so to avoid the horrible feelings that would conjure. By the same logic i
try to extend that to most news that doesn't affect me.

So because we can't directly affect the outcome, we should stop chatting egg about it in our free time? We KNOW this chat in here isn't gonna affect anything, it's just a way to pass the time man. Doubt anybody here has got a tonne of papers out everywhere trying to draft up a solution.
~~~m8son at the pub~~~
Friend: Alright m8son, did you see the footy match earlier?
m8son: No, because I can't affect the outcome. now please stop talking about it because neither can you.
Friend: Alright. Did you watch that tv show the other day?
m8son: No, I couldn't control the outcome and had more relevant things happening to me. This conversation ends here.
Friend: Well, did you see that current event on the news?
m8son: Yes. I have offered no thought to an opinion and highly recommend you refrain from voicing any opinions you may have yourself.
You have missed my point but it doesn't really effect me so i care not.
Thinking about a football match is slightly different to spending time worrying about the atrocities happening in another country.
Nah, I'm just winding you up man.
I'm not thinking about African poverty because this is a thread about Ukraine.
