and when exactly did i do that?
a quote please, not a general statement, because in my opinion there's others doing this on regular basis here and i didn't see you taking attitude against that like i did lately, and with good results i'd say, if you bother to watch some threads last few days

I don't think I feel either way about your opinions. I'm naturally inclined to accept the argument that all money is evil and all bankers are Satan and that people are sheep when they go to work, buy their commodities etc.
The problem I have is that a) most of the time I don't have a clue what you're chatting about and b) you've corrupted a perfectly intellectually stimulating discussion on something I'm interested in, and turned it into a silly name-calling game.
Nice one.

Yeah, am all for keeping it open and interesting too. Though Trotsky, in view of your reply to my earlier qusetion as to whether you'd read an article posted by Metalbox, not sure what the links you copied in have to contribute to this debate . . .?

The links were not a response to metalbox's article, they were a cautionary alarm bell.
Quoting different sources and articles is great, but a fundemental of analysis is that no sources are truely objective. When we understand this we can look at statements in the context of -how- they are indeed subjective. The point I was making is that Spiked, rather than being a neutral, funky, youthful and modern journal it carriers with it some rather dubious baggage.
As for metalbox's post itself, I'd have the following comments to make:
Yet there have been none of the major strikes and mass demonstrations that marked previous crises, beyond one small confused protest about the employment of foreign contract labour and the plans of a few ‘anti-capitalist’ clowns to run around the City of London on 1 April. Instead people are responding to the recession much more as isolated individuals.
What this misses is a number of things. Firstly, the recession has just begun. The idea that somehow we’re at it’s worst it misleading at best, and a lie at worst. Thus, letting the recession run it’s course a little it’ll become clearer that class struggle is intensifying.
As we speak 2 factories, one in London and one in Belfast are being occupied. These instances on their own are enough to correctly warrant this recession as historic.
Rather than the Linsey Refinery strikes being “confused” and “small”, solidarity and political strikes have been completely absent from the British psyche since they were made illegal during the 1980’s.
Secondly, the recession is unique because it is international. Never have we whitnessed a recession during a period within which the mature structures of a globalised economic system have existed. Iceland’s government was the first to topple as a direct result of a popular protest movement instigated by the recession, which will be next do you think?
And I agree with most of the rest of the article’s analysis, particularly its criticism of the TUC’s bureaucracy and the Labour Party for refusing to call a general strike.

But, the article made no reference to the TUC or the Labour Party refusing to call a General Strike . . .

it's good to keep it cool, but best of all is to keep it real...

It did!
On the other side, meanwhile, the leaders of the trade union movement and the Labour Party, along with liberal voices such as the Guardian, equivocated, and insisted it must be treated as a normal industrial dispute, and condemned the violence of the pickets at least as loudly as that of the police. It was no contest. Beckett and Hencke recall with horror the occasion when Norman Willis, the useless lump of a TUC general secretary, condemned picket-line violence at a Welsh miners’ rally, only for a symbolic noose to appear above his head, lowered from the roof. But that was what it meant to miners engaged in a life-and-death struggle for their jobs and communities, and how badly they felt let down by their supposed allies.
And Alien I don't have the time to go through in and pick out individual posts so I retract my earlier comment. Not because I've had a change of heart but because I'm of the belief that if I can't (be arsed to) defend a statement with evidence then I shouldn't make it in the first place.
Joke's on me.

Congratulations Alien Pimp. I think you've managed to alienate everyone on here who may have once wanted to partake in debate with you.

And this annoys me because I think at the end of the day I think I might actually share some values with him.
As for what I said to that geezer on the other thread...
he jumped out of the woodwork and called all protestors [insert Daily Mail-style cliché here] stnuc. It's pretty out of order. Maybe I shouldn't have dissed his tunes but can you not understand how comments like his could proper wind me up?
The fucking police killed someone that day.

we do have what to share, only you're too jumpy and you feed the monkeys with this attitude!
admitting your reaction was more uncalled than any of mine here and caused at least as much distress in that thread would show balls and might close the file

not actually reading the posts people answer to is quite a common disease here, but forgetting your previous one adds a special dimension to things

Nope, I've re-read my past post and I still don't get you.
Also I'm at work and so my concentration is obviously elsewhere.

Sorry Trotsky, I was looking for a reference to 'general strike'. Still haven't found one tho I presume you think that was implied, rather than stated ?
Do you work for a 'political institution' by the way, or have I assumed something along those lines . ?
