Big ups to the British education system , i guess

I dropped out of uni this year for pretty much the reasons outlined and plus i'm very jaded and fed up with the whole system, we'll have to see how i do. What uni btw, UCL?

yep UCL. it's probably a pretty good idea, loads of people i know who have been working since they left school with better CVs than mine, even if they're still on fairly low-paid jobs (obvs it's different if you're up in Leicester and living with your rents you have a ton of disposable income compared to renting in London

). my sis had to work practically full time to make ends meet during her final year of uni and ended up with a bit of a rubbish degree, still managed to use it for some care jobs (it was psychology), but mostly has been working in restaurants and bars.
it's really not worth it anymore to be honest, unless you've figured out what direction you wanna go in and you know what you're doing your degree for, and you need time for that. what were you doing before you left?
plus.......... in any case, what is a generic grad job with very little relation to one's degree in terms of how enjoyable or fulfilling it is? sure maybe it pays more but... meh. i've just never seen how any kind of employment could really provide me with fulfillment and really having loads of money doesn't matter that much to me either, as long as you have a roof over your head, food in your gob, your safety, some mates, some free time and some toys it's all good.

ROCK UP TO GRADUATE INTERVIEW SUITED AND BOOTED. OPTIMISTIC.
OH, THERE'S 22 OTHER CANDIDATES THERE.
OH, THERE'S ONLY ONE JOB ON OFFER.
OH, THEY'VE RAN TWO OF THESE INTERVIEW DAYS LAST WEEK. SIMILAR NUMBERS. DIDN'T TAKE ON ANY OF THEM.
Spend an hour listening to this HR cuntfuck gloat about their companies expansion in spite of recession. Proceed to take competency tests, do group activities, powerpoint presentations. Sociable, ask the most questions, laugh at their fucking lame corporate jokes.
Didn't get. No-one got it, not up to standard. Up to the standard of a fucking £17k entry level graduate job.
YES IM MAD

Just to rub it in, I have never not been offered a job on the back of an interview. Personally, I think it's because I'm beautiful.
Lucky I got shit done before this shitty situation.

wouldn't mind but this was assessment centre number 3506 for me this year. i go through all their fucking processes, tele. interview b2b online tests b2b face interview b2b assessment centre
I have first class honours in a respectable degree, tonnes of relevent exp. for the industry i want to get into. But no, fuck, stuck working temp. at WEETABIX doing mind numbing data entry, a job that some software will do automatically once they've integrated it in 6 weeks time, thereby replacing me. jesus christ cameron.

i know the game. ive had so much practice now i do it all off auto-pilot now. Just, to get on a decent grad. scheme you need to be pretty fucking exceptional. It's all fucked now, when my dad graduated the company he landed at took on SEVENTY other candidates. Now, they just cherry pick 1 or 2 out of the 200+ applicants, it's mental.
And its not even their fault, obviously they just want the best they can. They cant take risks in this climate. Its the absolutely insane economic policy thats crippling the job market, and they havent even realised it yet.
Just wish employers weren't so fucking smug about it. Half dont even pay travel expenses anymore.

I have very little sympathy for some of my mates who claim to be always looking for a job, when really they're sat at home scratching their dick and eating quavers, but it is disheartening to hear shit like that dude, makes me shit my pants in case I lost my job. Glad I work in what seems to a high demand area at the moment though.
Good luck.

eventually human labour will only exist in those sectors where its humanity is essential to the quality of the product being sold, i.e. as partially affective labour in the service industries. however once the cyborgs are indistinguishable from real people the need for human life will cease
yay

i've got every catering/bar industry job i've interviewed for
in that industry tho i reckon people pick on looks all the time. not saying that's why i get jobs, but any idiot can work in a pub, sexy people bring the punters in.
that said, i can't and refuse to do the "flirt with the punters" thing, cos i can't flirt to save my life and they're all old and letchy and it's fucking grim

I was doing a really stupid degree in a field i do not care for at a shitty clearing uni which wasn't worth my time. I mentioned in the Life Improvement thread that i needed to get the experience and can afford to do it because i live with my parents, and i'm pretty confident in my abilities to do whatever i want i just don't have the confidence to start, i'm very awkward at small talk and biggin myself up, and i'm just trying to find ways to build that confidence to make the first phone call and get this ball rolling. Plus, i'm looking at doing an OU course so at least i have something if i fail in my endeavours and have to work in a bank...

My sleeping pattern is fucked up to the max and I'm very very depressed as a result. I wake up at 11pm and see no one, fall asleep at 12pm and do the same the next day. I've missed all my friends going back to uni, and now I'm wide awake, lonely, sad and bored, and I will be until I see my parents tomorrow and inevitably fall asleep a few hours after. All my friends have gone and I have nothin to do at all. This is so horrible

People manage to write tunes when they're depressed? (not talking
sad, but actually depressed).
I have no creative energy when I'm in that state I usually just veg out and watch black books
I write the best music when I feel like I can 187 the entire planet.

Thank you guys, pulled myself out of a bit of trouble there.
^ I live with depression and its a great focus on my production. Obviously not all the time, but in the 'fed up' state I start making really weird tunes that i would never have made without the 'fuck it I don't care' attitude.
Lol yes I still have a picture of Russian tits, in no mood for such activity
I'm playing borderlands 2 and mentally naming as many Skream and kromestar tracks as I can
