n64 also had some gems back in the day too - goldeneye, blast corps, starfox 64 etc.

This is just nostalgia, no way is MGS1 better than MGS4 for example, and people say so. People just played it as a kid, rose-tinted glasses and that. If you played Xbox 360 when you were ten you would think the same when Xbox 6 came out. "Was good when i played it as a kiddie".

In all seriousness I think a lot of people genuinely do prefer MGS1 to MGS4 due to the story, the setting, gameplay etc. MGS4 took away alot of the stealth elements and cooked up some mega bull in the story to fix the weirdness of MGS2, although it is one of the exceptions, I like pretty much every MGS game whatever generation.

and I don't know about other people but to me it's not just nostalgia, I actually prefered the games back then and I'm discovering old gems that I never played when I was younger too. I'm not really a massive gamer anyway tbh, but I still love playing old platformers, racing games and beat em ups from those days and I just can't get into newer games the same way.

Modern games lack imagination for the most part, when the developers had more technical restriction, it pushed them to be more creative i.e. beautifully hand drawn 2d rendered sprites.

Yeah the gameplay on a lot of old games was better.

I'm a real fiend for old school beat ems too. Street Fighter and the likes (hence I own a Neo Geo AES).

Plus just look at the final fantasy series. All the games before the ps2 are miles better than any since.

Plus games like Revenge Of Shinobi, Super Castlevania IV, Oddworld: Abe's Odyssey are all still amazing to play now.

Way more interesting than Call Of Duty being released over and over and barely changing and spending all day playing online against racist kids

where as old multiplayers such as Mario Kart are still fun to play with a bunch of mates.

Also Phaelah's music is so boring. It's super cheesy, clinically produced and doesn't have anything going on that stands out. His dj sets are just mellow to the point you can't dance but aren't interesting enough to make you stay and listen and don't go anywhere too apart from suddenly at the end when he's broken out a few more energetic tunes
