its both.
i drew the original image in pencil then i traced it out a bunch of times and painted it in watercolour.
then i did the black line work and scanned it in.

then i made tons of paint splatters and blobs and washes and sprays and scanned them all in.

then i composited it all together in photoshop.
scanned the type from an old book.

put it all together and bobs you fathers brother.

wicked stuff horse.
