Pretty good flick, very similar to Miyazaki.

GURREN LAGANN. Best anime I've seen in the last year! So. Awesome.
I just finished up K-On! It was good for what it set out to be (cute and not very plot-heavy). The lack of music playing was annoying though.

I think this was the first actual anime series I watched, and followed. It is so
Japanese, they take some rather morbid scenes and then seamlessly tie into humor, the OAV or special episode or whatever the hell it was showed all of them hanging out like normal. This is actually why I like Japanese entertainment over any else in the World, it takes you to great depths only to unexpectedly put you in state of bewilderment with the transitions form dark subject matter to light hearted humor.
I always tell people who I try to show this to that: Imagine if a a talented and creative schizophrenic has been given full creative rights at a film studio. They are usually intrigued enough to give it a go at least once after that.
I haven't watched much of anything since the Black Lagoon OAV are spaced out so far, but damn it, I went ahead and read the story arch in manga and its absolutely worth it. The director and creative of Black Lagoon are just so fucking amazing, stuff like that makes me want to take that idea I've had for a Yakuza series (I know been there done that) set in the early 2000's a bit further into the writing stages. I already have like 4 episodes worth of story arch playing in my head whenever I get bored.
Anyhow, I just started watching and catching up on a humor anime, the art sucks (which almost always ruins things for me) but its so funny I don't really care. Its called Mitsudomoe.
Today, I started watching Rainbow: Nisha Rokubou no Shichinin on a recommendation, it sounds gay but the art sucked me in and the story is quite solid. I guess I'll keep on until it bores me or I see it through. I'm also told the new Higashi No Eden II movie is out on the internet.

Just finished Gurren Lagann. It is the best anime of all time. Period. No discussion.
My mouth was literally hanging open for most of the last episode.
I cried manly tears due to how much win there is (no joke).
In fact, I'm going to go ahead and say this is the best finished TV series of all time.
OF ALL TIME

It`s definitely up there, I have to agree. It is in many ways the most epic series of all. The losses, the timespan, the increasingly ridiculous scale of the battles, the awesomeness of the relationships, oh, and the quotes:
"Whether it's laughable or irrational this is the path that ALL great men walk!
If there's a wall in our way, we'll destroy it!
If there's no road, we'll pave it with our own hands!
The magma in our hearts is blazing like flames!
The perfect fusion: GURREN-LAGANN!
Who... all of you... the hell do you think we are!?!"
"Don't believe in the me who believes in you. Don't believe in the you who believes in me. Believe in the you - who believes in himself!"
Nuff said.

Big up Gurren Lagann. That was an amazing anime. Though for me I'd have to put code geass over it.
Other day I saw what I would term a girl anime for the first time. Ouran High School Host Club. It was amazing watching people go crazy over it.

i finally got around to watching macross frontier which i really liked, except too much song. i get a bit tired of the longing romantic naive girl. i want more anime where the girls are not so annoying. i quite liked evangelion but i didnt like the end. i spent way too much time at the end thinking wtf is going on and too many family issues - one of the main reasons i didnt like elfen lied. i think there is too much focus on family shit. its boring. i think FMA fared better (it wasnt so annoying the thing about their mother) and i liked the humour.
anyway, anyone have any suggestions for anime with kick-ass heroines (of the paprika or vexille type, even the chick in samurai champloo was good). i dont mind a bit of romance, but i dont really like the whole virgin blushing thing. im dl Gurren Lagann at the moment after reading about it here. also, Time of Eve which i saw mentioned here, was totally awesome. thanks for that!

Gainax's new show "Panty & Stocking with Garterbelt" just started airing.

It's basically a Japanese version of the Powerpuff Girls except there are only two of them and one of them's a slut and the other is a sugar addict. The first episode is interesting to say the least...

Haven't watched anything new for aaaages. Just been on One Piece the whole time. I'm being slow, only up to 278, CP9/Ennies Lobby/Robin's past. Finally it's getting REALLY good. Anyone else on the OP vibe (no spoilers please, obviously)? If so, any idea what fansubs are best after Kaizoku (only got about ten more eps of their subs left)?

Caught up on Naruto again, pretty good batch of fights going on recently with sasuke and danzo. Just sucks that now I have to wait each week for a new one.
