So yeah series 3 started on sunday- no arya, bran or jaime but i'm really liking the longer scenes for each character- defo helps the flow.
Ps. Margaery is possibly even fitter than dany..

super excited to have this back, my only problem is that I feel the Stark-Lannister war is getting a bit murky and it's hard to track where they are in relation to other places in the show and that sort of thing. Was gutted for Tyrion when his dad went off on one, hope Tyrion does something awesome and screws over his whole rancid family. Like a boss.

You should read the books.

Read, the show while good doesn't cover everything that's in the scope of the books (plus I have a feeling they'll be cutting some of the more graphic stuff later on as it's even extreme for HBO standards). It cut down some great parts last season already just for the sake of trying to fit one novel a season.
Plus it's always fun seeing how things unravel in the show and how an actor portrays a character you're already familiar with.

This isn't really a case of versus, they're both great in their own ways, and the show hopefully encourages some more people to read the books and vice versa.
And if you're a fan of the books you should really play the GoT RPG game as while it got some critical bashing, it's become an RPG and cult hit due to it's awesome story that fits with the universe as a sort of prequel to the events in the books with some great original characters. GRRM helped out with it, and some of the actors from the show even did VA work for their characters in game.

i think its better to watch then read imo, otherwise all i do when watching is pick over things which are different and alters my enjoyment of it.

I dunno I love the books, and I love the show, nothing really major to nitpick over yet unless you're super anal then there have been a few minor alterations.
It nowhere near the deviation say The Walking Dead took from the comics to be something completely different.
The shame of the show is they can't pack in a lot of the things the books cover (due to only having 12 or so eps to cover a large novel), accurately portray the pacing or how the books are told from certain characters viewpoints.

Well I watched the first series and loved it, then read up to the fourth book, loved them all and stopped. Second book wasnt the greatest, but having already read it also affected my enjoyment of the second series I suppose.
Honestly, with the third series, I'd just watch it with everyone else because... shit happens, and people will probably be talking about it before you get to that point in the book and will maybe ruin it for you.
