I never get why people hold their headphones in the studio in music videos.
No-one fucking does that.

Pretty much every vocalist I've ever been in a studio session (pop artists mostly) with as far back as I can remember holds the cans, I'm sure it's because of the influence of popular music videos as well ha ha.

It's to stop any minor movements of the headphone pads rubbing on the ear as it would interfere with hearing the music etc.
