I know, I know. fucking sad face lol... I had it for about six months and never really even got to dive in that deep. But honestly...I don't miss it in my productions (probably because I didn't get to dive in...) If you are into step sequencers and knob twisting that is the best box out there hands down. It can sound a bit thin and digital, but I found ways around that inside the Monomachine pretty quickly.

Honestly at this point if I bought another Elektron product I'd either go Machine Drum or Analog 4.

Only good thing that came out of it is I got about 100 dollars more than I paid for it. Which is awesome, but almost meaningless in terms of buying a car lol

I may step up to an Elektron once I've got everything out of my Electribe but tbh that's a way off yet.

Turn off avatars and signatures if you want to stealth it a bit more ;)

Yea. I'm quite guilty of buying too many new things at once. You def. need to squeeze all the new out of something first.

I've found that naturally the sound coming out of malstrom is a bit thicker than Thor's.. Gonna look into this a bit

Well I'm playing a single square on both malstrom and Thor and on the malstrom it sounds as if there's more than just one single wave, kinda hard to explain

It could be because malstrom is a graintable synthesizer but that shouldn't affect the sound if a single wave that much....

Interesting...what sort of tests/research are you thinking to look into this more?

gonna create a straight sine, square, saw, and triangle wave in Thor, Malstrom, and audacity and then run them through a frequency analyser in reaper.

random avatar comments...

@ehbrums1: is that a photo of your actual dog?

@wub: love that you've been rocking the HST avatar for so long. Big ups! One of my favorite authors. Are you aware if anyone every collected all his ESPN "Hey, Rube!" articles and published them in a book? Also, did you read the Rum Diary? The movie is pretty shit IMO. The characters are well done, but something feels off about the vibe.

EDIT: quick web search reveals that "Hey, Rube!" articles were made into a book. BTW...wub...which are your favorites of Thompson's? Hell's Angels, Campaign Trail '72, F&L In Las Vegas, The Rum Diary are all great IMO but I've never been able to get through any of the others. Not tried reading his books of correspondence.

Out of those I'd say Campaign Trail is probably my favourite. Kentucky Derby Is Decadent And Depraved is a good standalone article. I usually travel worth at least Great Shark Hunt or the second of his anthologies they make good travel books imo.

Kingdom Of Fear is an awesome addition as well, sort of auto biographical tome.

Yea. I used to teach Kentucky Derby. Thanks for reminding me of it. Might work that into my creative writing class. I'll have to try Shark Hunt again, I was still in secondary school when I tried to read it. I forgot about Kingdom of Fear, that was a good one. I have the hardcover around somewhere. I have a strange love affair with The Rum Diary. It's just...it somehow captures the spirit of something I lived myself...not plot-wise. But I connect with it the most on a personal level.

@ehbrums1: Nice. Rock 'em all year man.

Once again, because of looking at avatars instead of usernames, I'm mistaking ehbrums for rayman.
