haha just in terms of the rhythm and the main synth in the tune... idk why just reminds me of misty winter or conference. obviously not on the same level in terms of 'cultural significance' or whatever, but just in that it obviously takes influence from those early DMZ records...

i know compa checks these forums so hell probably read this, but whatever

i used to chat to will a while back and hes a sound guy, but i really just cant stand his presentation of his music and the kind of things he says about his own stuff.
I have a tune i'd really like to share with you all when i reach 7,500 'Likes' on this page. I'm going to give it away via Soundcloud for free. No rush, just a heads up.
i dunno. hes made a couple of decent tunes but behind that there isnt much of a catalogue and i dont really think theres enough of a basis to give him all of my love

Fair enough^ I do think his production style is very unique though as I can't really find an artist that sounds like him. His tunes are certainly not the standard "dungeon" thing.

Not aimed at Compa in particular, and I get that this is a job for some people and they've gotta get their name, but if you're gonna give out a free tune, just fucking give it out.

What, you want 7,500 "fans" before you give it out? What about the fans that have been buying your stuff and supporting you for ages, you have to reach some arbitrary facebook number before rewarding them?

lol it isn't arbitrary but it's funny.

It's arbitrary because it's meaningless. If you think because you have 7500 likes on facebook, that your next release is gonna sell 7500 copies, or 7500 will turn out to see you when you DJ around the world, you're much mistaken.

Just devalues the support of people that are already there IMO, it's like, yeah, you're there, but I need new fans before I throw you guys a bone.

Based on random choice or personal whim, rather than any reason or system. pretty sure you're using it as an adjective too... so yes, it isn't arbitrary at all.
"but I need new fans before I throw you guys a bone" there's your meaning. and this "Just devalues the support of people that are already there" is your opinion.

Yeah, you're right I guess. But the meaning of the word arbitrary wasn't really what I was getting at.

And yeah, it is my opinion. Everything I write on here is my opinion, that's the whole point.

True, its a weird tradition in this day and age of facebook and soundcloud to reward people when hitting a certain milestone.

Not a fan of free downloads anyway, its either not good enough for a release or it is good enough and I'm gunna have to pay out for a CDJ because I use vinyl or cut it to acetate.. 2 things I can't afford right now. Darkin It and Raw Dogs are 2 of Skreams best tunes and gave them away for a free :(
