Drumma Boy and Shawty Redd production all over this album made shit crazy when it came out

The next year, Neptunes and Clipse released a coke rap masterpiece

In 08, Drumma Boy was on fire!

I kinda fell out of the mainstream rap scene, but apparently Lex Luger is the new dude killin everything

I have a lot of love for shigeto, but his finger snaps remix feels more like a much-needed extended cut of the original (which doesnt get nearly as much appreciation)

I dont know what trap or future bass is, but i couldn't find any other hip-hop related thread, so i hope you guys dont mind me posting a related question here.

So i dont listen to rap or anything and never did, the most i did was dabble in a bit of grime and wu-tang and PE (for the beats). I value beats and production value over lyrical content (because i dont rate pretty much any rapping or lyricism i've ever heard that much (but i never really looked (plus nothing i can normally relate too, felt like such a poser when i listened to rap))) but for ages i've been thinking there must be artists that make stuff like this exclusively, you probably all know the tune:

I really dont know where to begin. If you can point me in any direction for some amazingly produced hip-hop tracks (obviously nothing much can be better than Vex'd but i'm sure they can pretty close or equal) then i would really appreciate it. Something wonky, a bit disjointed, experimental etc. Sort of like if Kuedo, Slugabed or Rustie had vocals on their tracks. But the beats have to be amazingly produced, and the black man vocals must make me feel like a cool person.

Thanks chums.

Really appreciate the suggestions, thanks. I know of all of those on the list, in fact Paul's Boutique is sort of half what i'm looking for (first rap album i really liked) and i should point out I like stuff like DJ Shadow, Gnarls Barkley and Busdriver, Mr Lif - Phantom is another pointer (yeah i heard that on Tony Hawk's Underground, and what?) and is a tune that gets me hyped. Not too sure about some of the suggestions though, most of it is 90's stuff isn't it? While i appreciate it from an instrumental/sampling point of view, it#s stuff i've heard before. Never actually heard MF Doom, Mob Deep and Gang Starr, i'll have a little dip.

So, that's sort of half covered, but do you know of anything that can be described as "skwee with vocals"? Just some really electronic stuff - Slugabed with rapping? Pretty specific sound i'm looking for, so if it doesn't exist stop me early lol.

I really like the stuff you make personally, Wobbles, and that's probably the most experience i've had with trap - but i guess that's the sort of stuff i can hear in this thread too.
