Hadn't considered Disclosure as being manual followers...last time I proper saw it being done was The Klaxons and that nu-rave bollocks.

Jamie Reynolds of The Klaxons admitted in an interview to reading The Manual and stated that he "took direct instructions from it.... Get yourself a studio, get a groove going, sing some absolute nonsense over the top, put a breakbeat behind it, and you're away! That's what I did! That's genuinely it. I read that, I noted down the golden rules of pop, and applied that to what we're doing and made sure that that always applies to everything we do. That way, we always come out with a sort of catchy hit number."

Klaxons are the only band I've ever heckled.

Yeah, never quite understood why failing to sign over badly played chords on detuned gee-tars and synths was so popular.

Because they called it "Nu Rave" and timed it perfectly so it could be sold to people who'd never actually been to a rave.

I was really pleased the day that I saw someone on the Tube wearing a vest that read "Klaxons Are stnuc" - only to then find it was official fucking merchandise. The crazy, ironic geniuses...

I went to a nu-rave "warehouse party" where they had a Klaxons DJ set, a Foals DJ set, some electro guuurl group playing etc etc, all dolled up as an 'authentic warehouse vibe'. It was at that warehouse that is also a paintballing site during the day (not Electrowerkz).

Anyway, had press passes through Mixmag for some reason and thought it might be a laugh. Inside it was like somone had covered the cast of Skins in PVA glue and let them run through Camden. Remember being handed a MySpace.com glowstick on my way in, then having trouble locating the only bar that actually served alcohol.

The main room was a carnage of mandy'd up snogging, with people throwing glowsticks at each other from the podiums on either side, and I saw at least four fights involving skinny boys in vests & asymmetrical haircuts.

Not a pleasant evening.
