Why the goddamn hell doesn't Reaper autosave backups All the other daws I've tried do this! And none of them crashed as much as Reaper, so you'd think it would fucking autosave

People who don't force save constantly are the cause for unrest.

I think this si just something that you have to accept with reaper, ive never got round it, first kick drum on teh track always comes out slightly muffled like i t starts playing a fraction too late and it missed the transient. Not a problem when you render a track in full tho.

reaper adds a short fade in to audiofiles. You can switch this of in the preferences or by editing the item properties

Figured this out a while ago, also try preferences > Audio > uncheck "Tiny fade in on playback start"
I'd love to have "tracker items" in the sequencer area.
Set length within the tracker item, and then that can be dragged around.
Even if it were integrated with reasamplomatic, this would be a great way to push Reaper forward in the DAW world.
Ideally though each "tracker item" would be a (single) sample player in and of itself. That way if one had multiple samples to 'track' they could each be inserted in different tracker items on different reaper tracks.
Another way could be to have "ReaTracker" (my generic reaper-tracker name) be able to split up the sample into a number of sections. Then the beginning of each split can be triggered within the ReaTracker sequencing window. Obviously there would be a check box to have the sample stop at the end of the split or play to the end of the sample.
Sample offset a must though if there were no "splitting" feature.
Just curious. I'm really digging oldskool/jungle (again) and have been messing with madtracker (and will be rewiring it to reaper as soon as my comp is back together ) but just dreaming of doing all my tracker choppage in reaper....

Reaper is exellent at chopping.
It can zoom into the waveform so far you can see the sample points.
It also has a dynamic hitpoint detection tool so you can chop loops (and output the corresponding midi pattern) at the click of a button.
Read through this thread from beginning to end to find the tips on chopping, slicing and fast bouncing

Yeah, I know, and I've gotten pretty good at that. But working with trackers is so much faster... just think it would be a cool feature.
Also, does anyone know any DAW at all that combines vertical tracking with horizontal sequencing? Curious to see if that's been broached or works...

?

Upon a reVisit revisit (har har ) I think that'll suffice for now... until my dream comes true.
Still think this is a legit feature to add though.

Is there a way to easily change to pitch of a held note in Reaper? I would like to use ReaPitch, but when I try to automate it reaper is using some abstract scale as opposed to a tonal measurement. Is there a way to change this setting?

Yeah - just double click the MIDI clip itself; when you're in the piano roll/step editor, just move the end bracket wherever you like.
Now go read that manual and get crackin'!
for some reason there's an error when i try to open the manual. but manual's for beginners anyway innit? i guess this thread will have to do for a manual. but huge thanks anyway bruv you're been great help
EDIT: I know i'm asking an awful lot in this thread so apologies..
but the great thing about acid was that all samples imported into the project were transformed into the project tempo automatically. how does this work in reaper? for example, i mounted a tambourine sample in 130 bpm into readrums, but the project is 140bpm, how do i make it faster? thanks a lot and excuse my stupidity
if you want audio to match your songs bpm go to project settings, then the time base settings, and you have the option of time, beats, and beats(position, length, rate). Beats (position, length rate) will morph all items to fit your songs bpm.
Maybe I`m a bit late with this answer but version 3.75 now has a tick-box in the media browser window for tempo matching.
Very handy tool.

Hello again.
I just got a new Macbook for recording and pretty much everything is working awesome, but I've run into one weird little problem. The envelope function in Reaper is excruciatingly slow. It takes 30 seconds on the spinney beach ball to open, another 30 seconds before I can click anything or search and stuff. Has anyone else encountered this?
