Too much caffeine will contribute to the problem, a little bit will help eg. one coffeePhigure wrote:besides excedrin/asparin/whatever you haveReverb wrote:splitting headache

head into a sink of cold water, as cold as you can take it for as long as you can take it. constricts the blood vessels and also numbs the pain and shitloads of caffeine, also constricts blood vessels
why exactly? not that im doubting you, just curious. does it raise blood pressure too much?dubluke wrote:Too much caffeine will contribute to the problem, a little bit will help eg. one coffee
Yeah man raises up your blood pressure and heart rate so too much of it can cause headaches. That's why I had to cut back on coffee earlier this year, was causing me really bad headaches from too much caffeine and then really bad headaches from the caffeine withdrawal.Phigure wrote:why exactly? not that im doubting you, just curious. does it raise blood pressure too much?dubluke wrote:Too much caffeine will contribute to the problem, a little bit will help eg. one coffee
coffee dehydrates you massivelyPhigure wrote:why exactly? not that im doubting you, just curious. does it raise blood pressure too much?dubluke wrote:Too much caffeine will contribute to the problem, a little bit will help eg. one coffee
as far as i know, headaches are caused by blood vessels dilating too much and putting pressure on the brain. easing inflammation and constricting blood vessels are pretty much one and the same, vasodilation is one of the primary components of inflammation, and that's why you tend to put ice on most injuries to stop the swelling: because it constricts the blood vesselsnoam wrote:i think you guys may be confusing constricting blood vessels with easing inflammation
cold water helps because of temperature, not because it 'constricts' blood vessels surely
'constricted' blood vessels means less blood flow which means less oxygen to the brain which causes headaches... or am i barking completely up the wrongun?
thanks, figured as much. as for the diuretic effect of caffeine, you can try to complement it with lots of waterdubluke wrote:Yeah man raises up your blood pressure and heart rate so too much of it can cause headaches. But on the flipside as you say it can help them too as in smaller doses it constricts blood vessels and can ease the pain.
