I've yet to pay for anything....
you get a free trail dont you?

then you subscribe @ some monthly rate.
its free with ads on the actual app, and you can listen all you want
true. well that makes sense actually.

wondering why i keep seeing peoples spotify lists popping up on fb. confused me because i thought you had to pay.

i'm considering getting a spotify subscription tbh (i signed up waaaayyyyy before any of this bullshit) cos it has decent back catalogues of quite a few good labels on there like black box, hyperdub, 3024 etc etc

you can only play any track 5 times over without a subscription. have managed to avoid this for some time but i'm out of chances on a lot of my fav songs on there... also the stream quality if you pay is better.

generally spotify >>> youtube on audio quality... plus, no youtube comments on spotify

although i'm sure they'll find a way to add comments one day

why?

youtube has ads, quality is generally shite, its easier to search for stuff on spotify and you dont have to stream some wanker's powerpoint slideshow. can't see any upsides to using youtube really, apart from for unreleased tunes?

right, i don't mean to advertise for spotify here, but £10 a month for unlimited access to millions of songs at 320kbps that get synced to your computer so you can listen to them offline and on your phone/mp3 player as well? that's a shit deal? really?

"owning music" is a bit of an archaic concept these days... if most people generally don't actually own the music they listen to on a day to day basis and just listen to 60kbps youtube clips... that would seem like a really good version of this concept, no?

that's the thing, I'm much happier paying MORE for tunes to support the artists.
