WTF happened to dizzee, wasn't boy in da corner a massive hit? why is he putting out horrible shit?
also: roommate?
Dizzee turned into a wanker after, perhaps even during, Showtime.
I love that album, but he's not been the same since tbh.
Video doesn't even make fucking sense.

He's made maybe 2 decent tunes since then
The tunes with lily allen are some of the worst music I've heard

this is pretty good and was released after Showtime
Dizzee produced too. How much of the third album did he make the beats for? It's weird to me that all his shit now is just random electro/trap beats made by pop beatmakers. I mean he was a grime artist not just a rapper right? His old beats were actually sick, I Luv U, Stop Dat, Brand New Day, Graftin etc. How do you just stop doing that? Wonder if he still sits down and fucks around on a DAW sometimes.

the weird thing is he had a huge amount of mainstream success doing good grime, wiley never did (at the same level) and had to go pop to get where he is $$$
I dont see why dizee had to go that way when he was making good music that was going into the top 40.
Seems weird

I think you mean europe m8. With his accent I think his people were smart enough to know he couldn't break the mainstream here lol.
Anyways this was sick.

No and I can't understand why noone got this, He changed to try and become a rapper (instead of a garage mc) on hiphop beats in america and failed. He was getting a lot of shots, like hot 97 and other shows like that, posse cuts etc. If he were to get a us record deal, it would be much easier to rap on us producers' beats, so that bit just took a backseat for him. He even tried to change his accent a bit.

Like fully mainstream us rap kind of thing at the time. Just one example mind.
I think it was some of the same people that tried to break Amy Winehouse in the US, so they might have had enough on their hands at the time.

Yeah but you see his hip hop songs got no exposure over here, regardless if he was on hot 97 or BET. I remember when Maths + English came out I had to specially order it from HMV because they weren't stocking it. The people pushing Amy may have been the ones pushing him, but its insanely hard for a foreigner to break into hip hop in the US, especially with the accent (changed or not) and especially at that point in time.
The only songs that saw success were shit like bonkerz, which is what I thought you were talking about, thus why I was talking about Europe. That shit was easily forgotten about over on this side.
