I'm fairly new to anime series' but i've watched a lot of the more obvious films (GITS 1&2, Akira, Perfect Blue, Ninja Scroll etc) since I was a teenager. I can't really comment with any real level of authority but i've done some research and started watching Ergo Proxy, Mushishi and Gurren Lagann - all very good so far but for different reasons.

I've got a big list to get through too! One that I really want to see but haven't had the chance yet is Gankutsuou The Count of Monte Cristo. Looks lush.

but seriously, mirai nikki, fate/zero and nichijou are my favourite shows atm; probably gonna watch sound of the sky after finals
