Just bagged, not overly keen on the tune but we'll see if it grows on me. Better to have it than not

i filed a missing package form with Chemical, keeping my fingers crossed they hid a few copies in the office or something.DZA wrote:Nah!south3rn wrote:my order from chemical with this came in...

That's interesting... So is this tune unaltered from the mix down?Headlock666 wrote:no wonder when you have that shit cut at GZ Vinyl which are notorious for their ultra shallow cuts. They even admit to do flat cuts (meaning no changes done to the original source). I'm wondering why Mala didn't have this cut at Transition or any other vinyl mastering studio and then have them press the records. The quality of GZ's vinyl is very good but the cuts are horrible.
You can send it my way if you want(Pada) wrote:I really hate the sound of this plate, even bought a new one cos i thought it was just my copy...
it's not necessarily a problem with the mixdown - as far as I remember the GZ plant in Czech Republic uses Direct to Metal Mastering [DMM] as opposed to the more common method of cutting to lacquer and then metallizing them to produce metalwork and stampers.david wrote:That's interesting... Exactly...i got up stupidly early to get this on record store day....pisses me off. And there was a stupid amount of hype for this too...Motorway to Roswell wrote:![]()
So much for everyone scrabbling to get it and it being limited. Pisstake.
I didn't really understand it but its fascinating all the same. Don't need to worry about vinyl dying either...thinking wrote:

I could be wrong but I was always under the impression that this method of cutting produces quieter, less bassy records. It is much cheaper though.
yes, GZ does DMM. However I have lots of other DMM cut records that sound tons of times better. If you're into Hip Hop, check the early Nervous Records catalog, like old Black Moon, Mad Lion singles, they were all cut at Europadisk on a DMM lathe (it even says that in the runout sometimes). I don't know all the technicalities about DMM cutting but I have read you can't cut as deep as on a regular lathe. Anyway, those Europadisk records kill any GZ cut record by half a mile and are cut like half a mile deeper. You might end up with a quieter record but like I said GZ does not alter anything on the source material other maybe filtering out some frequencies that might do some trouble when cutting while pretty much every other mastering house like Transition, Heathmans or what have you does master (post-produce) the recording. Here's what an engineer from GZ wrote about their "mastering": http://www.electrical.com/phpBB3/viewto ... 13&start=0thinking wrote:it's not necessarily a problem with the mixdown - as far as I remember the GZ plant in Czech Republic uses Direct to Metal Mastering [DMM] as opposed to the more common method of cutting to lacquer and then metallizing them to produce metalwork and stampers.
