Sorry guys... I somehow accidentally linked other peoples tracks on my posts before instead of mine, here is my tune. My first track ever... feedback appreciated!
reignz wrote:- Goubster : not trying to be a hater or smt, but create something worth posting before just patching up anything you make to full length... About your track: in my ears, you didn't make dubstep , you made a techno beat with a bass and some fx elements and made it last for 6.30 mins. I didn't like it.
- Joma: not bad, you got a melody and a beat, but again same comment as on goubster, make something more. Im not hearing any bass, you just took some cool instruments and put them together for 5.30 mins. Add a bass, some variation and it'll be a pretty decent tune.
- Tain: welcome to the forum! you posted your tune in the right section, here it's considered 'polite' to review some tunes yourself before asking for some feedback (for the next time you post something)
I liked your tune, imo with the vocal you could make a badass epic shaitdrop , yours is plain 'good' , but not special. Bass is nice, and a nice sub aswell.
- Hakka : Deeeep stuff man, i love it. Just boosted my volume and it became twice as nice! Nothing to criticize , maybe a less harsh wobble, but thats taste.
cheers reignz, nice to hear some positive criticism and hear that im posting in the right place i try not to make anything too crazy, more infulenced by old skool dub e.g. skream, loefah ect... than the "filth" dubstep stuff... but i know what your saying, could do with a bit more "spice"! .... listened to a few of your tracks on soundcloud and defo loving the vibes, you got some talent bro, keep it up!

Not exactly new tracks but looking for critique either way. Many thanks in advance.
@ Grayskale - Thankyou mate! Will def be grabbin a copy from you!
@ Kaori - So pleased you mentioned the Deus Ex thing hehe! As I am a massive fan and love nostalgic overtones in any tune, especially if its of a Sci-Fi nature .
Took the advice on, added some incidentals, some extra pad work etc so its not too repetitive. Better mix also..
For some distressing reason my project file seems to have suddenly become corrupted so I can't work on this tune anymore guess that means it's finished..
@Rhek - Sweet tune indeed. Lovin the vibe and that growl is sweet, you don't overuse it like you get so often these days in the scene and theres enough space for everything to breathe. Like the bleepy lead synths you got going on too. One piece of advice would be at around 3:20 when you have that second drop you could do some modifications to the growl so it's not just exactly the same as the first half of the tune??
@Reignz - Tight production but nothing really grabbed my attention musically. Felt like the tune was kinda lacking a hook of some kind. Although you had variations throughout it still felt like it was just the same thing repeated as well. Some more variation in the mid range wobbly stuff would probably help smooth it out.
Your expected to give feedback before you post your tune out of respect in this thread btw, otherwise nobody would ever get any feedback at all. But seeings as it's your first post and you *did* manage to find the right forum *and* the right thread i'm gonna play nice XD thankyou for not starting your own thread titled 'nu produsa wat is chek it out blad
Tracks not sounding too bad I guess, is it your first? the mixdown could do with a lot of work and the whole thing is pretty sparse but if your just starting out your not doing too badly. I'd advise you spend a lot more time on your drums and get them sounding nice and punchy and detailed before you go onto the rest of the song as they sound quite weak here. Your wobbles are quite generic and simple as well, (sounds like just some saw waves post drop?) try experimenting a bit more. Quite like the pre-drop synth melody but again your sound synthesis has a way to go I feel. Hope you don't think me too harsh, trying to be constructive

ya haha my b, im actually not used to the whole forum bit, and i was just too excited i finished it (kinda ) and had to see what others thought, but ya it was my first attempt at making music so i was stoked =D. I see what your sayin with the generic sounding wobble, and the pretty bland beginning, so i think later ill tweak those and add some more length to it along with compressors and some better mastering. haha and sry again for just kinda jumpin in the forum all randomly, but now that im really diggin making tracks ill start adding my input to other peoples tracks

No worries dude, it takes a lot of time and hardwork to learn the craft of producing but your off to a great start with that tune. For tips on how to move forwards the production forum here is full of excellent knowledge, especially the production bible which is in a sticky at the top. Other good threads that are worth a read are the sub bass tips thread and the mixing and mastering questions one. Infact http://www.dubstepforum.com/production- ... 32399.html < theres a link that has some of the most useful threads in it

-goubster: for your first track ever (with no help? ) it's pretty damn good. as a dubstep track, it' needs alot of stuff fixing. Less harsh piano sound in your intro, smooth things up abit. The bass sound was nice but rather annoying in the long run, try switching up your bass! Drums were nice but basic, kickdrum could use some more EQing/layering. But as I said, for your first song it's pretty damn amazing.
- paravrais: shame that you lost the project file! im really feeling it up to 4min, then you decided to do something with the bass, it sounded too harsh for me. Imo just cut it at 4min and call it finished too bad there's no drop at the start, even a small one would've made alot of difference (your bass&drums kick in out of nowhere kinda). The rest of your tune is top class, reminded me of early Skream tunes.
Took your advice about switching up some midrange sounds, so here it is:
Yes mate! now i'm feeling it, made a big difference I reckon. One thing I would say is that fast rate lfo bubbly sound (if you get the one i mean) is a little annoying and a shame because all the rest of your growly midrange beastlyness is so well done. Don't get me wrong though, sick tune man, if I heard it out I would definitely be skanking and not going to buy a drink.
I think I fixed my project file by deleting a random temp file that had appeared in the project folder :s so i'm gonna try what you said and repost it, dunno how it ended up so long actually, I normally make tunes about 4-5 mins but I think I liked the piano bit so much it ended up longer XD

yeah i agree with wahts already been said really for your first attepmt this is really ood just work on layering your drums up which will give your track a deeper feel then just work on your bass abit more i think it needs something maybe an added octave? something but its a very good first start
my new tracks in the signiture i could do with a little guidence on

be sure to follow me for many, many more tunes coming out of the bag, drumstep/dubstep galore!
@Imperial Mary Jane - Some of the higher frequencies in the intro bit hurt a little and could do with being turned down a touch, vocal sample is pretty cool, drums are nice at the start but get a bit boring after a while. Feels as if you need a thicker sub under your bass as its all mid range atm. Bubbly sound gets eaten up by mid bass, dont worry about pausing the bass to let it bubble as would add variety. Chic-a-chic-a hi hatish sound gets kind of annoying :/ Overall not bad though
@Paravrais New Dark Ages - Liking the intro housey synth, could maybe do with being a touch louder so I miss it when its gone - cant tell if its meant to be main stage or background. Squelchy noises at 1min arent very nice, either is the piano over the top sounds quite thin and cheesy unfotunately, maybe revoice that line. Could do with sidechaining your kick to some of the pads etc. to give a bit more breath to the song. Crunchy sample is nice, I'd say use it more I'd say you dont need the middle chorus as its just kinda more of the same.
@Rolaz Masquerade - Liking the hats on the intro, got a real live feel to them. Bass sounds when they fill up the stereo image sound awesome, main one needs more depth though I feel. Drums could do with a spacey little hi hat rhythm to fill in the gaps between kick and snare, break isn't prominent enough to fulfill that role. I like the pad that comes in and out at the breakdown alot.
Looking for critique on this track, got a summery/indian feel to it and hope peoples like it

Imperial and Obsidia, I don't care how good you 'think' your tunes are you still have to play by the rules of the thread and leave feedback. Everyone wants their tunes commented on without having to give feedback themselves but if everyone was that arrogant nobody would EVER get feedback.
Sigh, i'm sure getting sick of having to tell people that.

You've just slated my favourite parts of the song and said you liked the bits I wasn't sure about XD so I think we just have real different tastes. Also fyi there arn't any pads in it :\ don't really know what I could sidechain the kick to as there isn't anything that plays for more than a few seconds at a time.
As for your track, it's well mixed down though the pads are a little loud and drown out the drums at points. I think if I still smoked draw I would quite like to chill out and have it playing in the background but it's not really music I could listen to as a primary activity, doesn't seem to be any kind of hook or anything to grab your attention at any point. This said I think we have very different tastes in music so for what it seems you were going for I think you've probably got it spot on

Hmm, think I maybe joined up all those little bits andd decided it was a pad lol - just felt as if your kick was getting drowned out a little. Would agree that hook writing is probably my weakest point, but yeah it was defo meant to be a super chilled out song so cheers for feedback B)
