Really wanna know how to create that sound on the 2nd bar after the intro
Any help is appreciated
draw pythagorean triangles aka right triangles aka |\ this shape that starts vertically and then ramps down quickly on the automation for the filter cutoff. with some phaser + chorus on the midrange, this should give a very percussive sound to your reese.
I'm sleepy and my english may not be at its best but I think I was clear, let me know if you didn't understand it.
Been trying to make bass like this for a while now, this being the best example I could find of what im looking for. Iv spent months making beats which and atmosphere's now and havn't even touched on bass, so im really struggling. At the moment iv experimented with applying light distortion/logic based filters to sine waves and 808 kicks without much luck. Im pretty sure im going down the completely wrong with my experimentation, would really cool if someone could set me on the right path.

it's just distorted sine wave sent to a huge low passed reverb aux. try adding a bit of sustain too.

Drop to a ridiculously low octave, Resample, Resample, Resample, Resample. On a low octave, it may start off very quiet but have a nice sound at the tail which you can always resample and adjust. Don't know if the latest song I uploaded qualifies as dungeon but I got a crazy amount of influence from J:Kenzo. Saw the man live this past weekend, best show I've been to.

yes this would be awesome. not a huge fan of Reaktor's synths, and would rather use it on FM8

"Dungeon Style" Dubstep Bass..

I know there are a lot of threads out there about this topic...
However I was just wondering if there are any video tutorials (apart from the Icicle and Kryptic Minds masterclasses) that could help me, or if there was any direct info anyone could give me on how to make this kind of bass..
From what I have been told a lot of it is to do with multiband splitting, then adding different distortions, however I am unsure of which wave(s) to start with.
I have read that you can get good results from distorted/modulated sin/square waves, however I have also read about re-sampling reeses and just wondered which gave the best results in prople opinions?
Respect!

I just replied but your topic got deleted... don't forget that reeses are mostly just detuned waves.. get a nice gritty patch and start modulating/automating the EQ

Cheers on the response...
Also I was having trouble with which frequencies I should split my bands into when re-sampling.
I usually low cut at 30-300hz for lows, then 300-3000hz for mids then 3000hz onwards for highs?
That sound about right?

Those sounds are just reeses, multiple square or saw oscillators detuned against each other. The growling comes from a combination of distortion, mid range phasing and eq. When splitting, use three bands, 12db filter and saturate lightly before filtering. I usually have three bands going on: <200hz, 200hz-1200hz and 1200hz>. Heavy flanger and digital distortion on the highs, phaser, chorus and then distortion on the mids and nothing on the lows, glue everything together with comp, scoop out the mud around 200~500hz. Now, experiment. Go crazy on notch filtering, add eq peaks to put emphasis on the growling sounds, try cabinet / amp distortion on the mids (nice way to get things growling) and so on. You can also use different reese sounds for your layers, I did that on the track in my sig, there's about one reese with three different layers.
For youtube tutorials, I think distance has a few, so does district. They also make streams all the time. Seamless ones are good to, refer to the reese / neurofunk ones.

Cheers I appreciate the help!
Would I not have to cut with a 48db filter tho on my bands to avoid phasing issues?

I really don't overthink it, it's just a technic that I picked up from DOA and so far it sounds okay, at least for me. I think the growl is more about getting that hollow sound in your mids from the phaser and the distortion than anything else, the band splitting thing is just a personal preference, if you rather do it in a more surgical way, do it, no rules on that.

I use massive. Put one long lfo on wt-position of sine-square wave (osc 1), wt-position of square-saw 1 (osc 2), amp (osc 2), cut off of a lowpass 4 (filter 1), dry/wet of reverb (fx 1), then from there theres a ton of things you can do to enhance the sound, like using lfos on different amps, experimenting with metal noise, or using osc 3

Hello all.
Mesck is a badman and I understand his production value is extremely high but I was wondering about the highly resonant bassline in this tune.. the really thick moving one.
