Hey guys, I need help with finding the sound that comes up at 1:24 and repeats throughout the chorus in multiple variations - that slow phaser like sound. Thanks! :D

square wave in a higher octave add distortion then ADSR to suit, should be roughly similar

Hey Guys,

I was trying to make the lead bass sound in Porter Robinson - Spitfire (Kill the Noise remix). Basically want to recreate that modulated SAW sounding filthy bass which runs throughout the entire track. To me it sounds like he has used the same patch for the entire track and added heaps of modulation.

Any ideas how to make that sound. I don't particulary want to use it in a track , more or less want to create it for learning purposes and get an idea of the workflow used to create it :-).

Any help would be great

Thanks,
Ben

-edit: I should probably specify that I am hoping to use Massive as I am most familiar with it :-)

Hey guys i'm a huge fan of awsome brostep mid ranged basses and 1up has a pretty interesting bass that i'd like to know how to synthesize and process to make something along those lines. I find when making brostep your music is most remembered by your signature bass and i'm inspiring for something like this. Specifically the sound right at the drop 0:54 thank you

Absolutely in love with this tune, the sound design amazes me. I'd love to know how the epic sound at 1.15mins in is made and also the lead synth at 1.31mins in, thanks so much in advance : )

The reece tutorials on there are really helpful :) I've got some good reece's but that lead synth and the climbing sound at 1.15 baffles me :)

Please help!
Help me make the sound like the synth that the artist Gemini uses in most of his songs, you know, like a pulsing synth?

I've asked this before, everyone says "sidechaining" like it's obvious...I'm pretty sure I have a basic idea of what sidechaining is, but I don't understand how just straight up "sidechaining" will get me that sound...

An in-depth answer from someone who has a mo would be MUCH appreciated

Thanks

Well, he clearly uses sidechain compression to get that sort of "pumping" feel to the bass. Make a light, air type synth (no better way to describe it..) and look up a tutorial on sidechain compression. *
Mute the trigger (f.ex a kick) so you don't hear it, only the effect (the compression). Play around with when you want it to come in etc. :)

Hey, really appreciated if someone could help make this sound for me please :D Its the lead synth bass in high rankin's reincarnation, at around 1:18. I'm almost sure that it was made in massive, cause every other HR sound I've heard was from massive.
Thanks!!!

Sidechaining is when you set up a separate track, for instance one playing a kick rhythm, and then you set your compression on your synth to sidechain through that track, which means whenever the kick on the other track is triggering copmression on your synth which gives a pumping and slow attack type sound. For the actual bass, a simple electro type saw with some distortion layered with a sub and something with high end, such as strings will sound nice :) hope this helps better

anyone know how to beef these sounds up? i know there are noises in the background in the original song but im trying to focus on the main leads. how can i dirty them up and get that crunch? is layering the right solution? i tried distorting and bitcrushing but then the leads seem to lose their focus and punch. what do you guys think?
Layering. Setup another synth with a different patch but kept at the same octave, and introduce a waveform on both an octave lower. This will give you a huge amount of variety in one sound. Two - you want to look at stereo imaging and compression. Sending the signal slightly to left/right and adding chorus can add epic weight pretty effortlessly :)

Yup, this will work :) I think the main melody synth is a little off in terms of the waveform, to me the original just sounds like one saw wave with a classic tube and dimension exapnder (with some EQ)

One more question:
So I use Logic...I should just basically set up a kick to the rhythm that I want the synth to be pumping at, then add compression to the synth, then, in the compression I select send to kick?

Sorry if this is an experience similar to teaching an kindergartener, I usually don't have half this much trouble with a concept...I feel like I ALMOST got it :u:
