Haha, okay. Think you are hearing some of the harsh I put in it. I eq'ed a bump up there. Can't recall where, but 4db somewhere up top.

Haha, NOW I remember that kick. That was a traumatic day for me.
Okay, that kick has a 9.57 db bump at 2,407hz. Which I turned down from like a 14db boost! That is that little arrow in the kick. That little pip.
But that is also on top of a 3.24 high shelf boost, starting around 1,500hz. That kick sample is "milk kick" from dsf#42. Like no high end in there. I was cutting at 600, like 6db, lemme listen to 300 again.
Thanks again. Your ears are redic.

Just layer in a finger snap or something. Or a pitched up fart. Or if you really need to maintain the congruity with the original kick, use some parallel hipassed saturation for bite.

As opposed to my 10db 2.4k boost?

Yes.
Plus, pitched up farts are so in vogue right now.

percussive variation maybe, get a couple elements in there that would really set the beat rolling off into Arabia
yea now that the comp is over, all limits are off,i honestly kept finding myself throwing in my own samples more than the ones provided but now tis be all good

ah i see yeah its formantshifting?!
dunno if thats what its called.
i use ableton so in the samples its under complex pro formants and it does a pretty good job (not super accurate but enough to make a lady talk like a guy or in this case like a chainsmoking lady or a guy like a girl etc) if you keep the formant slider around 80-100 and work with the pitch.
there are dif formant vsts you dont need ableton for this
but yeah easy way out is going for the 5 7 12 -5 -7 -12 steps no matter if normal pitch formant vocoderstuff...
you could go for dif vibes with one up down etc thats all to taste and what you are going for in the end
