I remember listening to Burial's first album when it came out and it took me back to the days where I listened to Omni Trio and LTJ and pretty much everyone my age was listening to pop music... was year 8 at school i suppose. But yeh, that first album was like my own secret music that I listened to again.. now all that charm is lost for me... i still listen to the first album more than the second.. if I had seen all this palava on the net and in the papers... i probably never would have got into Burial. Strange... maybe we should resist the urge to squeeze every last bit of mystery and fantasy out of the music we love.......

some things are better left unexamined.

True, I still love his music but a lot of the magic of it has gone for me. Probably just a personal perception. Dunno why i'm posting it on here really. I'll keep my thoughts to myself as a lot of you should...

things have just got out of hand a bit. i mean the sun running a week long piece trying to expose who burial is? how the fuck is that helping anything?

but yeah like someone said popularity shouldn't make you like the music less, but a loss of the mystique is certainly going to make burial less of an intriguing character. but tbh in some ways that was detracting from the music anyway. when someone's popularity is in a large part attributed to their anonymity rather than their production skills then things are a little bit wrong if you ask me. it's like the reverse of the pop industry where talent is replaced by publicity and marketing, only it's about not knowing who they are

I get a lot of the "Ah, what once was..."

But when I got into Burial, I didn't get it at first. Then again, I was bumping a lot of Breakcore at the same time, so to go from Venetian Snares to Skream definitely didn't give me realistic perspectives...

But I got back into Burial because of Flying Lotus loving him so much, listened to the first album and was struck by how much it resonated. Then I realized, another album had come out, and everyone was going gay for this "Archangel" tune. And thinking, "... Huh?"

Like, the stuff was already so obvious. Did Ray J REALLY make all the difference?

Not that this has much to do with anything. Still, I'm curious as to the mixtape. Just because it's probably the only thing close to Burial doing a mix at all.

its like when you hear your mum humming your favourate tune, (after hearing you play it constantly)

puts you off said tune for life

what I meant was Kultures right in a way

Before burial was 'public knowledge', it meant alot more, as it was more personal. Because the music is so deep and emotional, you almost felt that the albums were written personally for you.
