but really to understand Jaybird's point, you have to look at the American psyche.

here is a good site that will explain Jaybird's p.o.v.

protect the scene, protect our borders, protect our way of life!

;)
At the cost of looking like an elitist, racist, eugenicist, smug piece of shit? Nah.

Surface_Tension wrote:No, music isn't worth "protecting" if by protecting you are talking about making it exclusive, for only the underground. That's text book elitism right there. Nobody holds the position of saver of step Jay. That's the issue people have here. You said that anyone who doesn't think like you is essentially a corporate dick sucker or something. It's simply not the case. That's the only beef anyone has, is that you trashed something else while bigging up your own side project. You posted pictures of some sewer and said that it was the venue for your next underground event. That your shit would have a better vibe and all that. At the same time someone else in LA was doing the same shit, promoting their show, while downing the other one.

People are correct to think that is pretty cutthroat.

UNBELIEVEABLE . after 15 pages you STILL think its abot him trying to make dubstep exclusive and elitist???

I don't think that's what he said. Read what he said again. He said that Jay was trying to keep shit "underground" aka exclusive to those "in the know" leaving out the fact that all of us were once out of the loop before a major corporate force Radio One really broke dubstep to an outside audience....

That damn Mary Anne Hobbs... she's such a corporate shill right? That damn Skream and his Nike commercials...

motherfuckers are getting paid for entertaining people now like they would in any real artistic venture... it's called progress.

dood.. america is not as small as the UK, and it not ready for what you guys can do in the UK.. There are ALOT of closed minded people here..
People that when they don't understand something, automatically get violent.. I'm pretty sure america has shown that in more hten one occasion..

I'm not saying that more people getting into dubstep is a bad thing, it more like how fast we explode it..

we haz an orange tree.. the oranges are sort of ripe, but not totally.. we either pick it now, and have some ok oranges, or we can wait a lil more, and let those mutherfuckers get juicey...

and the FACT IS.. the quicker something goes up, the sooner it falls..

we need to think about dubsteconomics...

WE DON"T EVEN HAVE REAL PIRATE FM RADIO HERE YET.... I think that maybe we should go in steps.. and slowly expand it, and do things that are truely down for the cause in america..

I dont know too much about the 'corporations' but if they are able to bring big UK players over to the states, whats wrong with that?

If smaller promoters are unwilling to put their necks on the line and there is a genuine demand for the music by people who want to see their 'favourite artists' then I dont think you should just hate because its not your mates putting on the party. As long as the party's are good and they don't change the artists then I don't see why you should complain.

That Kode 9 and Martyn party looks awesome, if it was in London I would reach...regardless of whose putting it on.

Fabric have been monopolising since they opened but when they put on a good night everyone goes!

when the show is free, how can you say the people are coming to see the talent..

I mean people will be there.. but it doesn't mean they know what they are seeing..

unless it promoted straight up to heads that know whats up..

not everyone and their mother..

It's my understanding that an LA crew helped promote, if only slightly. Also, you were in the know and went there... you went to see the talent at a free show. Not because it was free, but because it was Joker. Which I think defeats your point about how nobody would go there to see the talent if it wasn't directly marketed to heads. It barely was marketed to any heads, probably a post on here and nothing more. Again defeating your point. It's not worth arguing about it honestly. You have made your point, your girlfriend and 2 other people agree with you. Moral victory I guess, since normally nobody agrees with you.

All that matters is people have a good time. I lose nothing by seeing a free show and neither do you. If a free show is enough to buy your soul there are other issues you should be focusing on.

@Claw: how mature, don't say anything constructive at all, trash the people bringing it up, then promote you shit on the thread.. GET OVER YOURSELF..
