This thread is jokes; boywhoshouldbeinabarbers needs to leave his opinions to himself, I don't think he is (you're, if still reading the thread) are in the position to make judgement about anything within Dubstep, I don't know of you being part the scene for all the years ive been on it.

To use one of your analogical mishaps.

Dubstep isn't like going to holiday in New Zealand, you can bring your own fruit and veg and mix it with ours to try something new. It will not destroy our eco system but you should at least try our produce while you're here; its delicious.

(was that bad enough?)

So whats so great about 'real' dubstep?

As far as musical complexity goes it's kindergarten.

As far as being 'pure' or 'meaningful' and 'bare' why dont you play the mostest one of these tracks to a throat singing Tibetan Buddhist or a Alabama chain Gang back in the day.

And they will tell you its all just a bunch of sweaty palmed teenagers making random mouse-clicks on FruityLoops.

Yours,

Some people just seem to get "evolution" and "bastardisation" confused. As well as "progression" and "stagnation".
But let's not to get too fixed on semantics.. This whole wave of noisy dubstep is just people copying each other instead of actually trying to do something different and unique to themselves - drawing from their own inspiration.. whether it be metal (distance), vangelis soundtracks (kuedo) videogame music (ikonika) dub (mala) footwork (AG)...

It's about writing music, not writing "dubstep" imo. Took me a while to really get what Mala was saying when he said this stuff in interviews. He doesn't write dubstep, he just writes beats.

That's what it's all about imo. Draw inspiration from somewhere else and make something that's true to you instead of something that's true to the fashion.
and I'm sure Mr. jblake knows where I'm coming from here, his music might not sound like the "dubstep" you hear when you type it into youtube, but I still think it's a continuation of the sound by staying true to the experimental and fwd thinking attitude of dubstep in the first place.. and uk electronic music in general.

but wadda I know :6:
This mala cuban album is going to be a wakeup call for a lot of people I think.

my 2 cents.

tl;dr: the real dubstep isn't "dubstep".

btw this whole rant is kinda OT, needless to say the video is shit, the argument is flawed and don't even get me started on the delicate petal of a man presenting it.

if people want 'evolution' and dubstep for 2012 then they need to listen to music from people like kahn, commodo, killawatt and the like. producers who are actually doing something new and pushing the scene forward

The guy in the op video is a fucking neek.
If OP and guy in op video are not one and the same, then OP is a neek by association.

And Steve Vai was more complex musically than Joy Division. Who gives one?

Too many people get hung up on how a track was produced, or the musical theory knowledge of a producer, and not how the tune sounds. You think Skream and Benga had been taking classical piano classes and studying scales for 10 hours a week when they were smashing out tunes like 'The Judgement' :a:

If a tune sounds good, it sounds good, don't care how 'well produced' or 'complex' it is.
