On calling him the "first" though - has Pat Patterson never properly come out? Everyone has accepted him as gay for decades it seems.

Orlando Jordan is bisexual as well...one of the reasons he got released is because he kept bringing beautiful hairless young men back to the hotels, and it was causing embarrassment on the road. Then he went to TNA, did the whole bi angle and went WAAAAAAAAY over the top with it, so it ended up getting a very bad reception.



Not sure at what point he honestly thought this would work, especially with TNA's fanbase being a bunch of rednecks.

Tbh, most crossdressing/effeminate characters have normally been there to act as a target for all the latent gaybashing in the crowd in most promotions I can think of. Seems like Goldust was essentially just there so people could be homophobic about him... it'll be interesting to see if Young can maintain "Yeah, I suck dick and I will BREAK YOUR FACE if you have a problem with that" rather than getting shunted into being a big gay cartoon that bigots can be afraid of.

Seeing as how I saw Young's announcement being mentioned on a wrestling forum this morning with the thread title "OMG DARREN YOUNG IS A PHAGGOT!", I can probably see how it's going to go.
