No tune from me this week either. Although I did just finally fix my cubic polynomial coefficient function for this dynamic waveshaping plugin I'm working on, so there's that.
It does classic compression to waveshaping, has a knee point that's separable from the threshold, and has 2 release knobs. That's right, 2 fucking releases. Badman.
It also puts out massive spikes if you set it up a certain way because it's compressing upwards, but we won't talk about that...

I see where this is going. We all turn in a track a week, and you turn in a vst. I like the sound of that. (pun)

Might take me a bit longer than a week, but that is where my productive time is going lately. It's a bit harder to write code off on the basis of artistic license so I'll have to put the perfectionist tendencies to good use. Although my ideas do sound like they were designed by Bob Moog on acid... Maybe a bit of artistic license will come into play.

Yo man, I'm need of hundreds of ways to fuck up sound. I feel like no one is making plugs that do what I need. I'm pretty far along getting my basic setup there. Still need a good chorus, as an aside. I've never found something that I completely like.
But for sound mangling, as a sound design tool... there is not a lot out there. I still use Jack Dark stuff, which is really like very harsh. I'm not so looking for harsh as fucked up and strange. And I know you like fundamentals, but I like discrete one trick ponies. This box does this. Okay, maybe with a range, but I really don't like swiss army knife type of deals.
So, a vst a week. It is decided. Great!

Fuck of yes.
Okay, people are already starting to turn in tracks for this week. Saturday is like turn in day, but we're spread around the world, so I just collect them late Saturday pacific. Feel free to post up something you've been working on for this week, or wait for next week. Either way. Really good to see you down here.

I feel you, I'm grinding right now. I've had a lot of time to work on music this week, but have had a really hard time getting it going. Of course it starts to happen late...

Yeah I feel you. Everything a bit fucked is really harsh, and everything not harsh is pretty boring. Hard to find that middle ground.
With this dynamic waveshaper, you can get standard compression or really fucked waveshaping. The two bookends of the spectrum. I'm trying to fill in the middle ground. Figuring out ways to unfuck the fucked a little bit. Gonna try a low crossover today to remove the distortion on the low freqs. Also gonna figure out a way to make it asymmetrical waveshaping for dat analogueness. Not sure if it's possible in this circumstance though. Either way, if I can manage to sand off some of the grit while still maintaining character, I'll have a pretty useful little plug. Throwing it on a drum bus is the litmus test.
I'll keep the chorus thing in mind. I feel the same way. Hoping to fill in a lot of holes with sound design tools, not least of all for my own benefit.

Shhh keep the cats in the bags. Although I don't really know about Gross Beat. Is that just like a Glitch type effect?
The spectral effects thing is super cool and something I'm going to get into. PitchFunk is also pretty dope. DMG can do no evil in my eyes.
