Still not producing anything. Enjoying other people's music too much.

Slight update since I last posted:

One of the things that irked me about the Stantons was a lack of a suitable dust-repelling solution:

For anyone with an Empath, turns out DeckSaver's unit for the TTM-56/57SL is compatible. Why I didn't think to check and compare the dimensions of the top plate before, I don't know:

No better or worse. Just depends on how my mood takes me.

The rotaries have a different slope and I enjoy holding and bending blends (well, trying to) for minutes at a time with them. Use it primarily for bass and any 4/4.

Faders I use for all styles. The P+G components on the regular Empath are heaps buttery and wicked for cutting with.

Not at the moment. Closed up my Soundcloud account because I had too many takedowns and couldn't be boned with all those tricks like 30-second gaps and junk.

Mixcloud blows now they require listeners to login with Facebork.

Haven't recorded in ages...might be time to set the MiniDisc back up and find a new hosting site.

*chuckles*

And I'm mostly useless as tits on a bull when it comes to maintaining two active channels at all times for genuine 3 deck mixing. I'll occasionally do it, but vast majority of the time I'll cue the third track and sample it; mix the second track in and then the third becomes my second while the first becomes my third.

(Yeah. That made sense)

As for long transitions, helps that the decks are serviced and can hold pitch for as long as 32 bars. Then you just need to keep an ear out and give it a nudge every once in awhile rather than having to nurse it the entire time.

They do? Since when?

EDIT - I've just listened to a Mixcloud set now without having to login via FB.

I just tried going to the Mixcloud site and every time (tried about 10) I selected play a dialog came up, saying login with FB or provide MC credentials.

Very strange, I've got a flying lotus mix on right now that didn't need anything doing for it.

It's 100% pure fun.

It's super easy to loose 30 minutes just fucking around with the sequencer and designing sounds.

It's also more versatile that given credit for, a lot of people see it only for the 303-clone which is certainly a big part of the appeal but it also can be used for leads, drones, bass and even some glitchy percussive hits.

Works in a "serious" setting too, midi in changes it from a fun groovebox to an external analogue sound module which is how I'm mainly using it within my music, playing notes from my DAW or from the Xio.
Tho the built in step sequencer is also great so don't dismiss that.

Don't be fooled by the size - full fat sound. Super simple to use and learn. Will 99% be buying the beats version in the new year also.

Will have a track up in the next two weeks that uses it - will post it here or somewhere if people are interested.
