datura wrote:On a serious note (sorry :D ) with regard to the mixes, maybe it would be good to get a genre mix and also a producer showcase mix of their own tunes to get a bit of variety and also give a spotlight to some of the lesser known and released producers.

Or even a record label mix of released and forthcoming by the person who runs it?
yeah sounds like a plan. how many per show? and how long do you reckon the show should be? (roughly - obviously can be more or less on steamizm)
2 hours is prob a decent time slot, however the flexibility to run over is one of the great things with streamizm if there is no one in a slot straight after and everyone is up for it. That’s prob your call though, esp. if it’s in your flat!

As for the number of mixes, I think it can be fluid as it prob depends on how many guests you have in the studio. As a guide 2 x 20 mins gives you 40 mins and sounds reasonable, however you can be flexible, depending on time, if people are late etc.

The good thing about this forum is there is a lot of talent and a wide spectrum of musical taste so it should provide pretty interesting listening and differentiate it from the majority of the other shows that generally concentrate on one genre. Always good hearing new and different music. Even disco ;)

yeah maybe 2 is too many if there's going to be what 5/6 of us in the studio? what do you think?

yay you just reminded me of black devil's disco EP. it still sounds so fresh considering it was made in the 70s

and i just reminded myself of kerrier district

As for hearing new and different music, I would also really like the stuff being tracklisted (is that a verb?). Nothing worse than hearing something brilliant and not knowing what it was. And it's quite easy to miss id when it's only mentioned or written in chat.

Maybe for the first one you guys should go longer than two, just to get everyone involved fair time and because your all gonna be really excited and probably keep going anyway. Doesnt hurt to build in some time for working the bugs out by going long either. If you go three hours, which will go faster than you think, you can do up to 7x20 min mixes and still have loads of time for drunken hilarity.

if it's streamizm i think it's fair to assume it will go on for about 5 or 6 hrs ;) if it doesn't i shall complain

yeah i reckon at least 3 hours but with the option for more...
i think 7 mixes is too much though (if you mean 7 pre-recorded mixes). what's the point in having a load of people in the studio if you just end up playing pre-recorded stuff?

Yea I agree, not much point having lots in the studio to play prerecorded stuff...Id say three twenty minute mixes with a fair interval betwen them, three hours=one an hour or so?

Nah, I didnt mean it like that at all. 7 mixes being a combo of live and in-studio mixes... It'd be proper boring to just play prerecorded stuff for the whole time.
