ricardo is one of the best penalty savers in the competition, i'll grant you, but he's looked decidely dodgy on crosses for the entire tournament and his positioning is terrible.

best goalies in the cup? Buffon and Lehmann. And allegedly, Gigi is off to arsenal once the competition is over...

seaman was missing from this world cup. might have made a difference for england if he was around.

Just Theirry.

But Wiltord and Vieira used to play for them.

TBH, the whole 'Fransenal' thing makes me laugh, i mean they have ONE gooner in the squad. We have more players in the English (Cole, Campbell, Walcott), Spanish (Reyes and Fabregas) Swiss (Senderos, Djorou) and Ivory Coast (Toure, Eboue) sides than we do in the French team.

We may aswell call England 'Liverland' since there are four liverpool players in the squad (Carson, Carragher, Gerrard and Crouch)...

well he was up there with barthez and buffon in terms of experience. robinson just wasn't up to scratch along side the big kids. he was a liability.

what kinda of standards do you want? ffs, he kept four clean sheet out of five games!!!! And the only goals he conceded were when the defence looked like rabbits in the headlights against sweden.

I think we have to come to terms with the fact that we didn't play 30 minutes of decent, entertaining, football in the entire tournament. Lampard had a shocking world cup. Beckham did nothing except one decent free kick. Gerrard was patchy. Rooney looked uncomfortable up front on his own.

and barthez has arguably been the most over-rated goalkeeper in the history of the game. When they play him as opposed to Coupet is beyond me.

innit-but-doe-but-innit. We've been dissed for being a french side, been dissed for having to many international players, the long and short of it is, arsenal have over the years had a french bias, thanks to Mr. Wenger, and alot of the current squad have played or play for Francenal.

experience does not a decent player make - seaman in his last england days was rubbish. robinson not much better at this world cup but at least he's not david james. now there's a liability. actually england were generally full of liabilities - robinson, beckham, rooney, lampard (187 shots no goals and you want some respect??). and not least the manager...

I think Zidane and a couple of the older players demanded this. Domenech originally wanted Coupet.

Classic game yesterday! Cannavaro - player of the tournament for me, so far.

I state again: only one of the current squad play for france. Only three of the france squad have ever played for arsenal. And i can only think of pires and anleka and petit (and thats going back a while) who've played for arsenal and france.

But i take the point.

Personally, i think that Wenger doesn't have bias against english players. I think he has a bias towards young, promising, reasonably priced players. And the sad fact is that any young english player with decent prospects gets massively over-priced. (£10m for jermaine jenas!?! Please!). The reason we've had a bias towards foriegn players is that they are typically alot cheaper (van persie cost £2.75m, for example) and typically have better control with fits our game. Find me an english player as good as tomas rosicky and i guarantee the price for him will be astronomical (£15/20m+) whereas we paid £7m for world class midfielder who's proven at the very highest level.

Agreed! He had an absoute stormer last night and has played consistently excellent throughout.
