If you're being serious, Google 'audio format'.
To be fair I'm just annoyed that the released date for the When I Look At U
8-Track cassette has been moved back 2 weeks.
8 Track killed vinyl just like everyone said it would...No I mean...Cassette killed vinyl..

I mix with records because it's more enjoyable, my fuckin grandma could mix with cdj's I just don't see the fun, it bores me... don't tell me to get with the times when you go on like some super toy, bore off and go play your cdj's
I have owned 1210's for the last 7 years and have spent a fortune on vinyl (about £100-150 a month at one point) and dont see how it sounds better. it colours the sound enormously perhaps to your uneducated ears the crackles/feedback/distortion sounds amazing... not to mine.
I mix with records, cdj's and traktor scratch pro. I enjoy mixing on all 3 and dont feel the need to adhere to some vinyl only rule to enjoy a scene or its music... i still regularly buy music in all formats and probably support the scene more through just my digital purchases than you do with your vinyl only purchases...
Not too sure why you took it so personal i didn't at any point target you, perhaps you got caught out and was actually masturbating with a piece of "wax" when you read my comment and came over all flustered and felt the need to start making absurd uneducated comments...
Wow.
You're hardcore fan, aren't you? Really, you use vinyl, cdj's AND traktor scratch pro, why aren't you up there with the rest of em!? Seems like you're so educated in this field, and again, such a loyal fan, "probably support the scene more through just my digital purchases than you do with your vinyl only purchases..." I pity you.
I won't sit and argue about how your ears need to be checked etc, but I'll reiterate my original comment, vinyl does sound different to cd's - and no, not "crackles/feedback/distortion" I'm referring to elements of the track, different sounds that you can hear when playing vinyl, in contrast to cd's... I actually feel sorry for you, for spending such amounts on records when you clearly own such a shit monitor speaker.
You keep mentioning masturbation... Any particular reason for this? Something you need to tell us? "you wank off" "masturbating with a piece of "wax"

unfortunately mini disc is dropping in the first quarter of 2010 - the plus side is that the phonographic cylinder is dropping around that same time period.

Like i said earlier i have no problem with vinyl i still enjoy buying/using it just don't get this whole "real dj's use vinyl" argument are you honestly suggesting that a person who doesn't use vinyl only isn't a "real dj"?
Also with regards to the sounds of vinyl you may prefer how it colours the sound but its impossible to say that digitally produced music played through a format that colours the sound is "better" if a producer makes a track on a DAW (like most do) and that track is then mastered as a wav or whatever that is the format the producer intends/believes it would sound best on as thats how its intended to be heard.
Now do you see what i mean i'm not shooting vinyl down as i said i still buy it, just think the whole "vinyl sounds better" and "real dj's use vinyl" is such a pretentious argument...
And btw you pity me being open minded in the format i use and supportive of the scene in more ways than one, that really is a ridiculous comment, you have no idea of what sort of speakers/setup i have, god forbid i don't think feedback/distortion sounds amazing on all the music i own...
Anyway doesnt seem like there would be any way to educate your prehistoric opinions so i shall bid you farewell old chum...

Not my argument. But id say that's fair enough. I personally use vinyl because I enjoy it more.
Just a bit disappointed it came out on digital first because id say this is one of the few genres of music that are still pushing vinyl. However its not hard to understand why they released the digital sooner...it was ready to go out and it would shut up at least half the people on this thread. Big up emalkay and dubpolice.

"R.I.P Vinyl 1860 - 2009 (cuz djshi said so)."

i was gonna say something about this thread going way off topic but the last page or so has actually put me in complete hysterics! "whens the cassette dropping", "whens the mini disc dropping" hahahahahaha and big up to whoever made that emalkay cassette picture lmao! i'm in a public library and loads of people just watched me almost fall of my chair laughing at this. it just got funnier and funnier scrolling down.
on a serious note, whilst i dont wish to take sides (i use vinyl and digital) i ask anyone whos saying vinyl dosent sound better why all the top players in this genre and dnb (both bass heavy ones) would bother getting tunes mastered then pay £40 odd to get them cut to dubplate for club use?
