kaiori breathe wrote:Soundcloud Should probably say before you listen, this isn't dub-step. It was my first attempt at drum and bass a while back, and some guy found it and uploaded a version of it to you-tube, I never really liked it personally, but he seemed to. I kept this one pretty well hidden, but iunno, I'm kinda curious to see what you guys think.
Will crit for crit and all that banter as per usual.
It lacks structure, buildups, drops, things like that. The snare isn't really great for dnb either , imo in dnb the drums should be quite agressive, no mather what kind of dnb (my taste). I recently made a liquid dnb song aswell , I think it worked pretty well if you wanna check it for ideas ^^
@kaiori breathe - yeah man i really like the piano intro. personally think the pads are abit cheesy, id change them for some darker pads. a bass boost would be good. love the reversing bit.
@tehbam - massive grapefruit - really like the bass sound you have. drums are weak as hell though man for this kind of track you need a big beefy kick and snare goin on
wabbledubstep - wispy - yeah i really like that flexy thing you got goin on. think this could be a really sweet track just needs more elements added to it, feels abit empty. switch the drums up abit in places n all.
heres my new one...its unmastered but its almost there
@reignz big, tune, love the sample, reminds me of the others but then drops dark, with a bit of work u could get that sounding sweet (y) keep at it! definatly one for the download
@fassyman nice chilled vibes u got going there, makes a nice change from bare gritty wobbles, good job!
@deadcell another nice chilled one, has a nice glitchy feel to it as well, love the build up to the 2nd half of the song
will be posting some more feedback shortly, in the mean time for whoevers interested heres a little tune ive been working on, i used a sample from that xbox advert cos i thought it was jokes (y) come on and old guy hinting at sex is always a win
I just finished a track, I don't really 'release' (i.e. put up for free download) a lot, and this is quite different to most of the other stuff I'm listening to and working on (normally prefer and work in the much nastier end of the spectrum). But I cannot deny I love this, in particular how musical and optimistic it sounds to me. I can't really seem to find many other people who share my opinion, but hey, someone here might! Soundcloud
There's also a free 320 on the first page of my website, INEQUALS. I'll be leaving feedback for other peeps on the SoundCloud pages for the tracks! Better place for it IMHO especially with timed comments etc. Hope someone enjoys!
yeahhh i'm feelin it!
i do think the high pitched notes are justtt a tiny bit loud.... maybe it's just me. overall, i really like the beat. that snare kept me listening and nodding my head! and nice percussion, too!
i'm liking the track overall. the drop is dirty and the speaker panning is great. definitely kept me interested in the track. i wasn't feeling the buildup though... sounds a little empty to me. maybe throw some vocals in there to spice it up. other than that, production and mixing sounds on point to me! liking that hard snare, too!

i'm like how u brought it back at 2:30! sounds really nice.
cool beat, man, nice percussion. u put it together real nice, too.
i do feel like the main bongo hits are a littttle loud though, it seems to take over some of the other things that happen in the background. other than that, i think it's dope. very chill but intriguing at the same time (not just a beat u can lay back to, but something that keeps u interested as it goes along)
cheers
@ dubsac
sounding good, all but the drums needing beefing up, spesh the snare. i love the drop but i think you should of kept some kind of sub bass keeping things going after 1.21. other than that i like the progression of the track and the sample aswell.
@ mars
creepy shit on the intro, i love the insruments but i think they could do without so much reverb. the drop is nice but i think it needs more variation later on to keep shit moving. overall though its nice, good work
@ konkrete
intros got me thinking, i like it, that high pitche chime think i think is a bit too loud but thats me just being a massive picky a-hole. drums sound TASTY and the drop is smooth all but that distorted bass stab, i think the tune could do without it imo. the wobble that comes in at 2.17 is more like it. and some work could of maybe been done on the end of the tune, but its good, nice one.
@ the wiggle baron
i havent really got any feedback for this so ill just say its absolutely sick, lots of space and the percussion is big.
@dubsac - that drop is nasty, done pretty well with that track. something about the snare bothers me though, just doest sound perfect
@mexter dorgan - cant say Im a fan of that track at all sorry mate, dont like the synths, hate the drums etc etc
@johnnyforeplay - I think the snare needs a bit more snap, but I really like the track, the drop is dope.

thanks for the feedback man, someone else told me the build up was a little dry as well so i changed it on the dubstep version, you may prefer this: Soundcloud
@johnnyforeplay
big tune man, keep it up, only thing i say is ur need to vary your wobble a bit or throw in some variation here and there to mix it up
@dubsac i agree that drop is nasty, but i think u need to emphasize that snare, maybe adding a clap a the same time as it or on the off beat after
back on topic ive got a tune my mate made, its not just this same boring wobbles you hear over and over, he experiments and goes with the flow
hes called bowler and his tunes called spaceline, great use of sample in this one and great melody, feedback is much apprieciated
