Heres a video of us playing with an earlier version of this if anyone's interested, its just a loop were jamming with muting etc on the desk. all completely live, no computers etc. we mixed it down to stereo as well which is pretty cool, loving the warts and all techno jams. Using tr909, tr606, x0xb0x, blofeld, some fx and a soundtracs topaz 24 desk.
weve actually done a much better version since and have videoed that too but the audio wasnt great. the audio on this one was pretty good so here it is. not sure what well be submitting yet, we have multitracks of both versions so could redub.

loving this
we had our first jam session last night, with much shittier gear though, and it was mad fun.
you cant jam like that with software
used a cheap 8 channel mixer, a rm1x, an mc303, a waldorf microq and one of those cheap guitar delay pedals
but we had a lot of difficulty beatmatching the two grooveboxes, do you know how to do that? we're all software kids and i cant find anything on google. basically what we'd like to have is a hardware box with loadsa midi-outs to plug into our grooveboxes and maybe laptops (to use reaktor-built sequencers which will then power hardware synths and our sampler)
does such a thing even exist?

I'm looking for a low end drum machine atm... Could anyone recommend me something?
I've heard that DR-660 would be pretty decent for Techno? or should I get ER-1? or some kind of sampler instead? I have been offered a SP-808 for a 100€ but I don't like the zipdrive thing + I've read that it's really weak for manipulating samples and tweaking the sh*t out of them?
What would you choose and why? DR-660, ER-1, SP-808 or something else?
Please excuse my english, I haven't had a chance to practice it for a long time... I will try to post more often for now.
Cheers!

Aiiighhhttt... new to the thread.
Now.. im sure this will come across as me being a noob and asking for someone to give me 'skrillex bass' but I've been messing around with some beats the past few weeks and its really house/garage sort of stuff. Basically, I'm looking to get my 'soft synth' on. I wanna try create some sounds similar to any of the below (not the exact sound per se.. more an idea of what soft synths would point me in the right direction or even the names / styles of those synths).
Some sound like they have some kind of envelope on the pitch and they play some chord or could just be glide. Also, are there any typical keys / chords / chord types that are used?

Look up a tutorial on making 'house' organs. Or sample some.

to add to what axe d said above:
the synths/stabs you can hear in most of these songs are usually afaik:
1. korg m1 organ samples (do a google search and you'll find some, load them up into a sampler and process away)
2. any virtual analogue synth. most can do stab sounds with a short decay, sometimes some glide/portamento coupled with reverb/chorus/delay etc. - usually use sine waves or low pass filtered down triangle waves - if your looking at the more full harmonically rich sounds you could try square/saw waves too filtered with a lowpass filter. if you want the longer sounds used in some of these tracks use a longer decay and more sustain on the amp/filter envelopes. add some quiet white noise to taste and remember to use at least two or three oscillators set to different octaves or 7ths apart.
3. i've got some less generic sounds by using an FM synth like FM8 or ableton's operator with the same principles as above - i set one oscillator to modulate a sine wave osc slightly which gives it a different timbre - automating the modulation can create some movement too.
