It was a difficult choice - I'd pretty much dismissed Windows 8 tbh, but I could see myself getting frustrated with iOS and Android, especially for the amount of money an iPad costs. I wouldn't be able to dial into work on them... I could play Angry Birds and surf the web, but I couldn't sit in the park and work in Visual Studio or Powershell. They're beautiful gadgets, but a little bit too toylike for what I need... I just couldn't convince myself to part with the cash.

This is going to replace everything I currently use my laptop for apart from hardcore Ableton work... for £400 that's not at all shabby! 8)

I've just bought 5 pots of tippex so I can paint it up and fool girls into sucking me off on the Tube.

That is what happens when you get your iPad out on the Tube, right?

I agree fully.
Ipad is an expensive kids toy.
Your reasons are the same as mine.
Win 8 just opens up more possibilities.

Used to have a top of the line Asus laptop, doesn't even compare to an MBP.
And I'm not exactly an Apple fanboy :)

MBP is the only good thing Apple makes. I still prefer my Asus laptop.... it's a year old, stupidly quick (i7 ting) and never freezes or slows no matter how many programs i run.

Though - i use external hard drives for storage and have anti virus software unlike most people.

Cost only 500 quid too.... fuck Apple.

If I'd wanted an expensive laptop, I probably would've at least looked at MBPs, but there's no way I can see myself spending that sort of cash on a computer again. Unless you're gaming (got a Playstation) or doing serious A/V work, it's just overkill. Apart from Ableton, which I'm going to run from a dedicated little audio PC, the most taxing thing my laptop ever does is stream video!

I used to be a nerd, now I'm just an adult. :(

€1300 is not that bad for a product of this quality imo. I got it from college, but in 2-3 years I'm definitely
going for a new one.
Unless there's some other quality laptop out that I don't have to tingle with all the time.

It's not terrible for what it is, it's just massively more than anything I'm likely to ever need again - and in comparison to equivalent Windows laptops it is a bit of a premium. They're lovely machines though, especially now you can stick Windows on.

I used to spend £2k on new laptops - now a £400 Intel-Atom based tablet does the trick. Progress!

My iPad was free. Move to Spain, there's a reason the economy is fucked up.
