Think the moment may have passed(may have passed about a year ago in fact...), but to try to haul this back to the original point and give a straight-faced opinion....

is the livity stuff classed as 130? their sounds different and a lot better/different than most 130 imo but a lot of ppl still class it as 130
Was talking to Blackdown about a month ago about some blog stuff, and he said, quoting Parris I think, that '130' is better thought of as a camp/community rather than a 'sound' (and definitely not a 'genre'), and for that reason you can't really put Hodge in the 130 group unless maybe you're talking about the stuff he does with Facta. The example I was raising at the time was Mickey Pearce - on the face of it he makes a lot of grimey, percussive bangers around 130bpm so sonically he's got plenty in common with the 130 crew but he's not really part of it...he's part of the Swamp crew.
Problem is that means I would have to slightly (but a bit more respectfully) disagree with my man Etch in that I think you could call soundman a 130 label, because pretty much all of its releases have come from people in the 130/keysound scene. Obviously you can call each release something else - Dubstep, Grime, breaks, whatever - but you can do that with any 130 stuff, the label is just there to group together these like-minded + personally connected producers who make stuff that happens to be mostly (but not all) around 130. Obviously I know Parris hasn't set out to release a load of '130' music, but I don't see too much of a problem with calling it a '130' label if you see 130 in this way(open to criticism of that stance though, obviously). Slight risk of 'clique' accusations is the only issue, but I think its pretty clear that all keysound lot, Dusk & Blackdown in particular, are always open to new stuff if its good enough and fits with the vibe...
Probly get shot down for 'overthinking' and major lacks of 'bants' (genuinely didn't realise people still used that word?! surreal shit) but worth a try.. Anyway, read my blog, safe.

yeah mate you are over thinking it.
Most of the "130" producers (edit:also) make stuff that doesn't really fit the stuff in this thread. I guess most people are on the same page when it just means keysound and similar.
Worrying if stuff is actually tru "130" or not is pretty deadout. Prob only really a viable question when it comes to if you should post a tune in this thread or not, otherwise who cares?
i think the "camp/community/family" thing with 130 is kinda jading people too, almost makes it seem like a closed group circle jerk type thing which its actually the exact opposite

I don't think there's ever been a scene where the producers/label owners involved hate talking about it so much. I swear you must not get taken seriously on the 130 conference calls unless you've come in this thread to say:
1) It's a stupid name
2) It's a BPM
3) It limits creativity
4) "You guys are just forum guys anyway"
We get it. 130 producers/label owners are cooler than the rest of us plebs. Who would have thought a thread could be made more boring when someone central to the topic of discussion joins in. Just makes me not wanna buy their stuff tbh, when it seems they just wanna come in here and shit on the people so passionately discussing where and when they can buy releases and see them play out.

In case anyone was panicking, I've just removed all the nasty posts of people sniping shots at each other or generally just being rude. If you're struggling to post respectful opinions and discussion, please feel free to post your abuse to my pm box
It took me about an hour and I tried to leave the actual conversational posts in, sorry if you got caught in the cull. It's a really boring and tedious process as well, so I would REALLY APPRECIATE not having to repeat it.

picked this up yesterday, sold out on wax now. Really rate it, haven't been sold on loads of wen's recent stuff but this does really homage to the original and adds his sound to it

i was thinking the same thing... captures the atmosphere of the original tune but adding a lot to it with a very modern twist... heavy, heavy remix

I asked nicely, this time it's an immediate ban for wasting my fucking time. If you got to run your mouth about:
1. my mod style
2. drama in this thread
3. knives getting pulled
4. he said she said bullshit
5. any other fassy hole irritating shit
It's a straight ban for whoever continues it in this thread, if it really REALLY annoys me, it'll be permanent.

ok sorry pete.
Anyway on topic: i'm not a huge fan of the shallow grave remix tbh the intro sounds promising but then the main bit of the tune just sounds like another wen tune imo, can't really hear much shallow grave in it

you defo can
that 3-note riff in the first bar after it drops: the second 2 notes in that riff are the same as the main riff from shallow grave. its repeated by the sub after 4 bars. its the same bass as plastician uses in shallow grave as well
